The movie will be produced by Seth Rogen’s Point Grey Pictures, with “Pokémon Detective Pikachu”‘s Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit as writers.

Figment was introduced to the world in 1983 as part of the EPCOT attraction Journey Into Imagination, and has since gained a cult-like following as a fan-favorite character. The current-day iteration of that attraction even features Figment in the name: “Journey Into Imagination with Figment.”

Figment represents imagination and the endless possibilities therein. He is so beloved, that even as he nears forty years old, Figment related merchandise is incredibly popular. Earlier this year, guests waited seven hours in line to buy a Figment popcorn bucket at EPCOT International Festival of the Arts.

In 2023, a Figment meet and greet will be coming to EPCOT for a limited time. Figment is even featured on much of the merchandise that will be released soon as a celebration of EPCOT’s 40th Anniversary.

While he has never been the subject of a feature film, Figment has seen the silver screen in cameo roles. He can be spotted in “Inside Out” and “Toy Story 4.”

  1. I want Jesse Schwartz, whom I haven’t heard from in 12 years, to play the Dreamfinder and Richard Horvitz to provide the voice of Figment.

  2. I first saw Figment when we went to Walt Disney World in 1987 for the first time. The movie about him would most likely be to young for a person my age but I’d watch it anyway, it’s just to bad that he wouldn’t, and couldn’t be voiced by Billy Barty.

  3. I love Figment! I’ll be excited to see the film but I really hope it’s closer to the feel of the original Journey into Imagination and not the newer iteration… Fingers crossed they do Figment justice!

  4. I’m extremely excited that children who haven’t gotten the chance to visit Epcot will now have the chance to fall in love with MY FAVORITE DISNEY CHARACTER! I just pray they include Dream Finder too!!

  5. Just another money grab. It’s perfectly fine for a character to stay just bound to the story of its attraction. We don’t need a full length feature film moneygrab from Disney. Most likely going to be low budget with a very stupid story line.
