Here’s a photo of the new California Adventure parade route, that should go into effect when Cars Land opens in 2012.

While Sunshine Plaza is down for refurbishment, the temporary route will have the parade coming out of the gate in-between Pacific Wharf & a Bug’s Land, & continuing down the main-route in Paradise Pier.

Once the entrance area has been completed, the new permanent parade route will start in Cars Land, go up next to Pacific Wharf, & then on to the existing parade route in Paradise Pier.

DLNT Episode 2 (2/24/08)
Luke Manning | Podcast | 12:59 pm PST

Join host Luke Manning and a cast including John Corigliano, Nick McLamb, Tom Corless, Jose Castillo, Jason Diffendal, and Sparky LD, for a show that brings you the Ideals, Dreams, and Hard Facts of the Disneyland Resort. So sit back, relax, and enjoy all of the Disneyland news, information, and fun we have to offer on the Disneyland News Today Podcast!

We start off Episode #2 with our weekly Disneyland News and Rumors. Among the things covered this week are the California Food and Wine Weekends, the Goat in Big Thunder Mountain, more on the PIXAR Play Parade, and much more! I tried doing the news by myself this week, so I could test if it works better with just me, or with guests. What do you think?

Each week, we’ll be sharing with you a piece of live-in-park audio from the Disneyland Resort. This week, a lesser known attraction inside Disney’s California Adventure, Animation Academy. In Animation Academy, you can learn to be a Disney animator, and draw a random Disney character. On the show this week, we learn how to draw Daisy Duck!

Finally, joining me for this week’s discussion are Tom Corless, Jason Diffendal, Nick McLamb, Jose Castillo, John Corigliano, and Sparky LD. We go around the table asking each participant what their favorite & least favorite Disneyland Mountains are! And sorry ahead of time for the background noise in this segment!

New Management Members at Disneyland
Luke Manning | General News | 6:36 pm PST

From the Orlando Sentinel:

Operations at Disneyland, the granddaddy and cornerstone of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, is being placed into the hands of Michael O’Grattan, currently vice president of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Following a report earlier today on Chad Emerson’s Theme Law blog, Disney officials confirmed that O’Grattan is returning to Disneyland, where his career began in 1972, to be the next head of operations there.

Rilous_carter Also confirmed: that Rilous Carter, general manager of Epcot Food & Beverage, will succeed O’Grattan in running Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Carter (at left) began his Disney career in 1997 as a manager in food and beverage operations. He spent five years as resort general manager at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, as well as Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.

Earlier in his career Carter held a number of hotel management positions, most recently as an assistant general manager at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel, a major downtown-Cleveland landmark hotel.

At Disneyland, O’Grattan replaces Greg Emmer, who was senior vice president of operations at Disneyland until he retired earlier this year.

O’Grattan’s Disney career has focused largely on entertainment. In the past year he has overseen a makeover of the 19-year-old Orlando Disney studios park, which was renamed from Disney-MGM Studios. With the name change has come a slight change in the park’s theme, broadening more into pop culture, with fresh entertainment, a new Toy Story Mania! dark ride due to open this spring, and a new American Idol! theme park show attraction set to open in the fall.

PeopleMover track work?
Luke Manning | Disneyland | 4:51 pm PST

It looks like there might be some work being done to the old PeopleMover/Rocket Rods station over in Tomorrowland! According to Andy Castro of MiceAge’s Monday in the Parks article, the old Rocket Rods operating consoles have been removed from the station. And there have also been reports of seeing a “We’re Imagineering a New Attraction” sign up on the PeopleMover track.

Let’s all hope for SOMETHING up on that track in the near future!

We’re hearing that soft opening performances for the PIXAR Play Parade may possibly start on March 9th. This is still a rumor & they may or may not happen.

Feb 21

A new pre-show of sorts has been added to the Animation Academy in Disney’s California Adventure. It’s a preview look at the new Disney-PIXAR movie Wall-E, hosted by Andrew Stanton of PIXAR.

Also, Dopey has been added to the characters that you could draw in the Animation Academy, as a tie in to the Snow White 70th Anniversary event going on elsewhere in Disney Animation.

A Few Retractions
Luke Manning | General News, Website News | 5:15 pm PST

Just a few things I’d like to quickly mention. First, our Image Galleries have once again been updated. A lot of Lukes pictures in there came out very bad, so I’m adding in a few better ones:

Also, we’ve finally got our Disneyland Resort Image Gallery up & fully running. Check it out here!

The new Autopia costumes mentioned in a previous post have in fact been around for about a week, or longer! We should have a picture of it as soon as one becomes available.

More later…

New Autopia Costumes
Luke Manning | Disneyland | 4:37 pm PST

My good friend Jason Saldivar of the Disney Hub Blog has posted some information about new Autopia costumes over on MiceChat:

My lead at Autopia told us we could pick up our new costumes on Feb. 25 and have to wear them by the 27th. So be on the lookout for new Autopia costumes FEB 27.

The costumes incorporate the 3 new colors of Tomorrowland (blue, white, and orange). They are very futuristic looking, and don’t look like barf like the current Autopia ones. Best of all, the colors clash MAJORLY with the current (ugly) color scheme of Autopia, which has to mean the attraction will soon get a paint job (hopefully this year). We get new hats as well and they are styled exactly like Nemo’s.

Astro Orbitor will be getting these same costumes, and HISTA will also be getting new costumes along with Monorail (though it’ll be a while for them since their new train is stupid).

So again, come take pictures on the 27th!!
