The Blissfully Braised booth at the Disney California Adventure Festival of Holidays comes with the tagline of “Slow-Cooked, Savory Delights that are Worth the Wait”. I’ll say… we had to wait through about 5 less than stellar booths to find this gem. If I were you I’d walk straight past every other booth on the way to this one and start here. Every taster was impressed.
Braised Pork Belly Adobo with Garlic Fried Rice – $7.75
This dish was an absolute hit and a group favorite. The first booths we sampled lacked flavor and we were thrilled to find it here. The rice was garlicky but not too much which complimented the pork belly nicely. The texture on the belly was perfect, melting in your mouth. The pork rinds added some much needed crunchy texture to round out a dish called “amazing”. This is a repeat from last year and it is easy to see why they brought it back.
Cornbread Cakes with Collard Greens and Bacon Gravy – $7.00
The cornbread cakes were okay. The texture was a bit tough and required a knife to cut. I’m not sure the braised collard greens added much. The crunchy bacon however was great and very appreciated. For $7 I probably wouldn’t get this again but if you are a huge bacon fan you’d like it.
Blood Orange Ginger Mule – $13.00
We found another hit here with the mule. The alcohol was well hidden and the ginger beer used was sublime. It had subtle ginger notes that were refreshing and left us wanting more. There was a slight finish of rosemary, however if you aren’t a fan they could easily leave that off. I’m not a huge hard alcohol or mixed drink fan but I’ll definitely be back for this and pork belly.
Overall we were blissfully impressed and will be back for more before the end of the holiday season.
