REVIEW: Gingerbread and Peppermint Mocha Donuts at Disneyland Park
by Chad Freeman and Ciara Trexler
The holiday season is a great time to treat yourself to something on the sweeter side. And these two donuts at Disneyland Park are wonderful choice. If you are a fan of seasonal flavors like gingerbread and peppermint, then look no further. We have your next holiday treat right here.
The Gingerbread Donut
This seasonal donut was recently added to the Coffee Near Central Plaza kiosk. It’s a festive donut covered in green icing, red and green sprinkles, and M&Ms. Underneath the gingerbread cookie is a core of icing that tasted like traditional icing with a hint of gingerbread flavoring. The donut itself was delicious, but the icing definitely was a bit much in terms of sugar and sweetness.
Regardless of its overly sweet taste, this donut makes for a festive photo. And the gingerbread cookie is a huge plus. It can be removed and saved for later, and we found that it was still soft hours later when we ate it.
The Peppermint Mocha Donut
This donut is a decadent option and is sure to be a hit among peppermint mocha lovers. The dough was very dense and covered in a layer of chocolate, topped with a sprinkle of candy cane pieces and powdered sugar. Underneath the candy cane is a core of thick mocha frosting, which has a nice hazelnut flavor to it. While the taste was enjoyable, this donut would have been better with about half the amount of mocha frosting.
Both donuts are available for a limited time for $6.00 and they are perfect for sharing. Donut availability does vary at the kiosk throughout the day. We suggest visiting in the early morning and late afternoon, when fresh donuts are restocked.
The donuts at Disneyland are always changing at the Coffee Near Central Plaza kiosk. So if either of these festive holiday donuts sounds good to you, make sure to run, run, run as fast as you can! Let us know if you give them a try on your next visit to Disneyland.
