PHOTOS: White Water Snacks and New Pool Bar Construction Update at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa
We have some exciting news, folks! White Water Snacks and the new pool bar at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa have been under construction since September. These fan-favorite locations are undergoing a massive refurbishment, and we finally have a construction update for you.
White Water Snacks and the new pool bar will be accessible from the walkway between the hotel and entrance to Disney California Adventure. Currently, walls are up along that path, blocking off guest access from the massive construction taking place. This is the view that greets guests as they make their way along the walkway:
Prior to refurbishment, the sign for White Water Snacks was here. Now, all that remains are the poles used to hang the sign.
And from a higher viewpoint, we can see what’s really going on behind those walls.
From what we can gather, it’s going to be quite a while before the new pool bar is ready to greet hotel guests. The opening is set for sometime in Spring 2019 and this has us thinking the tail end of Spring will be most likely.
Post-refurbishment, we’ll see White Water Snacks opening with a refreshed look. Likewise, the new pool bar will be a luxurious addition to the hotel and will keep with the same Arts & Crafts design. This concept art rendering depicts what the area should look like once construction is complete:When you compare the construction above to the concept art below… Well, there’s a lot of work to be done.
While no official opening dates, or name for the new pool bar, have been announced yet, we did a little digging on the Disneyland website. We found that availability to dine at White Water Snacks is open for January 18th. However, this has been a pattern for the last couple months; the website shows future availability, only to push it forward again. And judging by what we’ve seen, January 18th is likely to arrive without a restaurant opening.
Here’s hoping that our favorite snack location does open sometime soon, though, with the new pool bar not falling too far behind.
