After closing for refurbishment in early September of last year, Tangaroa Terrace has finally reopened at the Disneyland Resort. The name has changed to Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill and the inside has received a great refresh, but this restaurant still feels like that familiar place we all loved. It’s a perfect blend of old and new, so continue reading for an in-depth look.

The “Tangaroa Terrace” sign is a returning piece from before the refurbishment, but the “Tropical Bar & Grill” sign is new. Likewise, the strings of lanterns across the patio are a new addition and they compliment the outdoor atmosphere very well.

For guests looking to enjoy a Dole Whip without setting foot in Disneyland Park, you can now find them at the new bar! They can be ordered as a whip or float and with rum, for guests who want a little something extra.

Coffee can also be ordered at the bar, despite The Coffee House being located several hundred feet away.

One of the best features of the new outdoor bar are these Maui stools. Not only are they cute, but they are comfortable and functional in the new space. The yellow and brown colors look great against the new green tiling of the bar. It’s an East Coast touch and a nod to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World, too!

As guests enter the interior of the restaurant, they are greeted with an assortment of snacks and other on-the-go items to the left. The variety of snacks ranges from chocolate to fruit to chips to pastries.

To the right of the snacks is an assortment of drinks that can be taken on the go, too. And if you’re in the mood for ice cream, such as Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar, you can find them located next to the drinks.

A new breakfast menu is served from 6:30 AM to 11:00 AM, with a lunch and dinner menu being served from 11:00 AM to closing. Both menus feature new options at fairly affordable prices.

To the right of the entrance is a coffee pick-up window. While we really love this area for showing off the amazing new wallpaper, it does seem like a bit of wasted space. It’s unclear what the empty shelves will be stocked with.

Just past the coffee pick up window, guests will find a soda machine, condiments, and utensils. The restaurant offers both plastic and metal utensils for eating, as well as chopsticks.

Among the utensils and condiments is this cute Maui statue, which ties in well with theming both at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar next door and Enchanted Tiki Room in Disneyland.

Perhaps the best part of the refurbishment is the decor. The blue light fixtures are made of fishing floats and decorated with netting. And the tropical murals that decorate the walls bring life to the interior. They make you feel like you’ve been transported to another place as you eat your meal.

Tiki details can also be found inside the bathrooms in Tangaroa Terrace, such as these light fixtures and wallpaper. We also love the art that decorates the hallway leading to the bathrooms. Again, these details are a great tie-in with the Enchanted Tiki Room.

This refurbishment of Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill is a great update to an area in need of refreshing. It feels fun, tranquil, and very tropical. For guests looking to relax prior to hitting up Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, this is a wonderful spot to do so. Let us know how you feel about the new look!

And be sure to check out the new cocktails and souvenir mugs released next door at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar!
