With Spring Break season coming to an end, the Disneyland Resort is feeling a little less intense these days. But with the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge just around the corner, the Resort is rushing to look its best in time. Here are all the updates you need to know about Downtown Disney District, including parking structure construction and new merchandise.
Downtown Disney District Updates
It was announced a couple of weeks ago that the new parking structure being built next to Mickey & Friends will be called Pixar Pals. The new structure will have six levels and more than 5,000 parking spaces. It’s slated to open sometime in July.
These beams are a new addition to the parking structure, as well as the ones above the escalators.
Trees have been added to the space surrounding the escalators. It’s not clear if they are just here for the time being and will be planted elsewhere, but this doesn’t look to be their official resting place.
Over at Downtown Disney, subtle changes are taking place to the former ESPN Zone building to get it ready for Pop-Up Disney! A Mickey Celebration. The exhibit will open April 26th and tickets are on sale now. From the looks of this new sign, there will be a store where guests can purchase merchandise.
No word yet on whether Rainforest Cafe will be replaced by a new store or restaurant. But it does look like Cast Members are working on the upkeep of the grounds surrounding the former restaurant.
And we still don’t have an opening date for Black Tap Craft Burgers and Shakes. However, there is visible progress going on at the restaurant. The white beams are a new addition and likely form what we will be an outdoor patio.
Over at Ballast Point Brewery & Kitchen and Wetzel’s Pretzels, Cast Members can be seen doing some maintenance.
As we make our way through Downtown Disney, we can’t help but take note of how light the crowds are this morning. We can definitely feel the end of Spring Break making an impact.
Over at The Dress Shop, we stumble upon several new merchandise items as well as this new sign advertising Pandora Jewelry.
If Up is one of your favorite Pixar movies, you can purchase this beautiful dress for $128. It features Carl flying in his balloon-powered house, with the iconic rainbow of balloons. And if the dress isn’t enough, you can purchase a matching Minnie Mouse Plush for $29.99. Complete with a Grape Soda “Ellie badge” on her bow.
And finally, months after this Trader Sam’s Tiki Drink Shirt debuted at Walt Disney World, the shirt has finally made its way here to the Disneyland Resort. This shirt retails for $54.99. And ladies, the matching dress is also on sale.
This new Mountain Man baseball cap is a great hat for guests who love the Mountain attractions at Disneyland Park. This hate, which highlights Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Matterhorn, can be purchased for $27.99.
Even though Orange Bird is a Florida-based character, he does occasionally pop up on merchandise at the Disneyland Resort. And this new Orange Bird Alex and Ani Bangle for $49.95 is adorable, to say the least.
And we love this new Mrs. Jumbo and Dumbo Alex and Ani Bangle, available for $44.95.
Over at World of Disney, guests wishing to participate in Disney Eggstravaganza 2019 can purchase maps inside at any of the cash registers. Be sure to check out our review of Eggstravaganza at Disneyland Park.
Inside World of Disney, a new kid’s Spirit Jersey has hit the shelves. This Briar Rose Gold Tie-Dye Spirit Jersey can be purchased for $44.99.
Of course, there is plenty of Briar Rose Gold merchandise for adults too. Be sure to check out the full collection.
