Every week is a busy week when it comes to Disney news. To help you keep up with all of the updates coming out of Walt Disney World and other Disney resorts, here’s WDWNT’s weekly recap of the Disney news from April 1-7 2019!
WDWNT News

Walt Disney World
- All the merchandise has been revealed for the 2019 Star Wars Rival Run weekend at Walt Disney World – check out the offerings here.
- Android owners rejoice: the Disney Parks Playlists on Play Disney Parks App is now available on Android!
- We learned of more details about upcoming nighttime shows coming to Walt Disney World – including “Wonder of Animation”, a new laser and projection show coming to Hollywood Studios.
- We learned that the Virgin Trains USA line from South Florida will include a station at Walt Disney World, enabling easier travel options for residents of the Sunshine State.
- A new landing page named “Crown Collection” has been introduced for all the Disney Premium Services, including Club 33, Signature Services, and more.
Magic Kingdom
- The April monthly special is out at Casey’s Corner: the Cuban Hot Diggity Dog.
- This week, a new Disney PhotoPass service became available on-ride at the Haunted Mansion – taking spirited photos of the happy haunts as they accompany you through the attraction.
- In celebration of this, April 13th will see special opportunities for one-day-only photo ops, experiences and snacks around The Haunted Mansion!
- Disney Villains After Hours is a new ticketed event coming to the Magic Kingdom this summer, and will feature an all-new stage show, ride enhancements, themed food and drink offerings, merchandise and more!
- Check out these update photos we took of the Magic Kingdom moat in the midst of the path-widening project which is going on behind Cinderella Castle.
- A new add-on dessert party experience is now available for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, offering a buffet of sweet stuff and exclusive viewing areas to watch the parade and the fireworks.
- We were unsettled to see that the annoying but iconic spitting camel has been removed from The Magic Carpets of Aladdin this week, with no clue to where it’s gone…
- We reviewed the new Mousketeer’s Cupcake from Main Street Bakery in the Magic Kingdom… and there was a lot of frosting!
Animal Kingdom
- A new progressive dining experience is coming to Animal Kingdom in July, named Circle of Flavors: Harambe at Night
- We reviewed the highly-Instagrammable Most Beautiful Cake from #HarambeMarket.

Epcot
- Check out this week’s construction update photo report for the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster.
- We learned more about the new creperie coming to the France pavilion in Epcot this week – mainly that it will be operated by Seattle’s La Creperie Voila.
- New details and dates have been released for the 2019 Epcot International Food and Wine festival, and also the 2019 Epcot International Festival of the Holidays. Read all about them here.

- We brought you a juicy rumor this week that sources are saying a DuckTales adventure will be replacing the Agent P attraction in the World Showcase in Epcot soon.
- Disney Vacation Club has officially cancelled the Star Wars: Galactic Gathering event which was due to take place in Epcot on April 10, “due to a change in intergalactic entertainment offerings.”
- We tried the new offerings from Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe in the Norway pavilion: the No Sugar Added Fresh Berry Orange Cupcake and the Salted Pecan Triple Chocolate Chip Cookie.

Hollywood Studios

- The Mickey Mouse and the globe ornaments have been removed from the peak of Crossroads of the World in Hollywood Studios this week… Where did they go?
- We learned that Bo Peep will be visiting Hollywood Studios, Disney California Adventure, Disneyland Paris and the Disney parks in Asia for a meet and greet this summer
- We were alerted of a few noteworthy happenings over at Chinese Theatre this week: some of the handprints have been replaced and the curtains have been drawn on the window displays.
Typhoon Lagoon
- Disney have announced the first-ever V.I.Passholder Nights to be held at Tyhoon Lagoon this summer.
Disney Springs
- Earl of Sandwich, Planet Hollywood and Chicken Guy! restaurants were tangled up in a credit card data breach, and an investigation is now underway.
- The Something Silver store has now officially closed at Disney Springs.
- Jaleo by Jose Andres is now open for lunch at Disney Springs!
Walt Disney World Resorts
- It was announced this week that any guests who order groceries or other deliveries to their Disney resort will be charged a $6 handling fee
Disney’s All-Star Resorts
- We tried the new pixie-dusted Tinker Bell cupcake from All-Star Music.

Contemporary Resort
- A new and exciting dining experience is coming to the Contemporary resort this July 4th! Woody’s Roundup BBQ will feature games, crafts, food and fun. Read up on the what to expect, along with a peek at the food offerings here.
- We reviewed the fancy Macaron Topped Banana Caramel Cupcake over at Contempo Café.
- We learned that Game Station Arcade will be returning to the Contemporary, replacing the Pixar Play Zone from April 8th.
Coronado Springs Resort

Wilderness Lodge

- We learned that Lucasfilm has trademarked the names for nine of the drinks which will be served in Galaxy’s Edge.

- Disney California Adventure’s red trolley car is now officially closed for refurbishment and will be out of operation until 2020.

New Merchandise
- Rose Gold is “out” and Briar Rose Gold is officially “in” in the Disney Parks! Check out the newest color trend to hit Disney stores here.
- Also to watch out for in this new color trend are these delicious-looking new Briar Rose Gold sweet treats which will be arriving at the Disney parks this spring.
- Look at these adorable new it’s a small world coin purses we spotted this week, perfect for keeping your money on your happiest travels.

- Show off your love of Pixar with this new Luxo Ball mug which we spotted this week in the parks.
- This spooky Haunted Mansion Master Gracey and Knight limited edition plush set has materialized in the parks.
- The all-new “Been There” series of Starbucks mugs has arrived at the Disney parks! Check out the mugs from Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot, and also the Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure.

Entertainment
Movies
- Get all your Marvel news from our Marvel News Mash-Up, featuring Avengers: Endgame, Black Widow, Wolverine and more!
- Following the movie’s release last week, Dumbo has landed in the number one spot at the box office, however falling short of the projected $60 million takings, gaining a disappointing $45 million in the US
- Tickets are now on sale for Avengers: Endgame – check out this new trailer featuring Captain America and Iron Man.
- Tuesday was the first day of ticket pre-sales for Avengers: Endgame, and not only did the movie break the record for the biggest pre-sale release ever but also earned that title in only six hours, breaking the internet along the way.
- A new round of character posters have been revealed for Avengers: Endgame, giving us a closer look at the heroes’ costumes.
Television
- We learned that Brenda Song (from Suite Life fame) will be voicing the lead role in the new Disney Channel show Amphibia.
Events

- The Walt Disney Company hit the news this week as it is facing a gender pay gap lawsuit, alleging the company is in violation of California law for paying its female employees less than male employees for similar work.
