Everything You Need to Know: Ronto Roasters
Ronto Roasters is the centerpiece of the Black Spire Outpost Marketplace and features a podracing engine that’s been converted into a barbecue pit. Former smelter droid 8D-JB keeps a careful man on the spit of meats. When customers line up to order (or pick up their mobile order), they’ll encounter 8D-JB (and listen to him complaining about his job). Podracing fan Bakkar actually oversees the establishment.
There’s little known about this droid other than his disgruntled attitude towards working as a pitmaster. Working at turning the mechanical spit, he’s expertly grilling the large sides of a Ronto, which is a massive beast that’s native to Tatooine.
Rontos are favorite pack animals for the local Jawas on Tatooine, though often are seen swaying under the weight of the cargo and Jawa passengers while traversing through the desert planet.
WHERE: Ronto Roasters
Located on the edge of the Merchant Row district, Ronto Roasters is one of the many food stands where guests can enjoy savory meals and a variety of exotic non-alcoholic beverages. Kat Saka’s Kettle will be nearby in the Marketplace, offering other tasty treats and drinks.
WHAT: Sweet and Savory Meats and Drinks
Ronto Roasters has you covered with an array of sweet and savory breakfast items, entrees, and beverages for everyone to enjoy! Be sure to check out our review of the breakfast and all-day menus to get a sense of everything offered here!
It’s a good way to start the day. After all, you can’t go wrong adding cheese and eggs. The eggs were served warm, so luckily they’re not sitting out for long before you order them. It’s not as good as the lunch version as it doesn’t have the pork, but the sausage is of the same quality.
This item is also available at Oga’s Cantina and Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. For something so basic, this is the ultimate execution of overnight oats. It’s amazing and served chilled, as it should be. The fruit is super fresh, too. This exceeded our expectations!
Nuna Turkey Jerky – Sweet or Spicy – $7.49
If you’re curious about the flavor differences with these, the spicy variety has more of a kick on the back end, with streaks of flavoring throughout. However, everyone else in our group liked the sweet one, which has some maple notes. Both varieties are good, but they aren’t going to change your life. They’re actually quite similar to what you’d get in a bag at any grocery or convenience store.
The Grilled Pork Sausage they use in these is really great, with a good snap in every bite. The slaw and the sauce accompany it well, and the bread is really soft and flavorful.
All in all, this is absolutely one of my favorite park snacks. Everyone at the table liked it, even those who were hot dog averse. The pork that accompanies the hot dog also has a really nice spiced flavor to it. This’ll make a great grab-and-go snack if you don’t have time for a full meal Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo (but by all means, do go to Docking Bay 7, because it is stellar.)
Tatooine Sunset – Gold Peak® Unsweetened Tea, Odwalla® Lemonade with Melon and Blueberry – $5.49
The Tatooine Sunset is nothing special, really, and it’s outright too sweet and syrupy.
Meiloorun Juice – Barrilitos® Aguas Frescas Pineapple, Simply Lemonade® with Blueberry, White Cranberry Juice, Lemon Juice, and Desert Pear – $5.49
Another overly sweet drink, this one at least has fruity notes to it, making it almost akin to a fruit punch.
Sour Sarlacc – Minute Maid® Limeade with Raspberry and Spicy Mango – $5.49
Here’s the winner of the three. It’s balanced, and tastes like an iced tea (despite not actually having any tea in it.) Definitely get this one if you’re looking for something other than water or a soft drink.
If you’re hungry after standing in line all morning to make it into Galaxy’s Edge, Ronto Roasters has you covered! Make sure to check out the other offerings throughout the Black Spire Marketplace for more delicious treats!
