PHOTO REPORT: Disneyland Park 5/16/19 (Concha Minnie Ears Arrive, New Disney Attraction Buttons, Alien Pizza Planet Refurbishment, ETC.)

We love spending gloomy mornings at Disneyland Park, especially when there are a lot of new things to check out throughout the Park. Here’s an update on what’s going on, including the arrival of the new Concha Minnie Ears, Disney Attraction Buttons, and more!

Not to start the day off on a negative note, but the entry lines into Disneyland Park are looking pretty rough. Unfortunately, this is going to become the new normal once Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens on May 31.

Main Street, U.S.A.

New Guide Maps are out and Mickey’s Soundsational Parade takes center stage on the cover.

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

As we make our way down Main Street, U.S.A. we pass by Mickey and pals, the Dapper Dans, and the Disneyland marching band after a performance in front of the Disneyland Railroad. Guests can catch multiple performances throughout the day.

Over at The Mad Hatter on Main Street, U.S.A., the exterior is still covered in scrim. While it doesn’t appear that much has changed, we’re sure Cast Members are hard at work on finishing up the refurbishment.

Over at Emporium, we spotted the Donald Duck Butt Headband on sale by one of the registers.

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

And near the register, some of the displays by the graphic t-shirts have been moved around. This area is missing a few racks of shirts, but it does make for an easier flow through the store when it’s busy.

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

We finally spotted the new Concha Minnie Ears on sale at Emporium after their arrival at Epcot last week. This unique set of ears can be purchased for $27.99.

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

Further down Main Street, U.S.A., there are even more changes in front of Jolly Holiday Bakery. In our last photo report, we saw that most of the construction walls had finally been removed in this area. But it appears since then, even more walls are gone. And the Guest Relations kiosk has been moved again, this time to the right.

Cast Members have been spotted repainting all of the railings throughout the park. They’re currently repainting these surrounds the planters and Disneyland Park map.

And the construction work on the curb is finished, too, revealing brickwork and slow inclines that match the curb in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle and Emporium.

With the curbs being flattened out, the flow of guests should become much easier. Guests no longer have to worry about tripping or falling off the curbs, especially making their way down Main Street once nighttime fireworks are over.

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

It does appear that the Coffee Cart Near Central Plaza will be gone for good, as Cast Members have been telling guests. With the construction walls now being pushed back close to the planters in front of Fantasy Faire, it doesn’t look like there will be room for a coffee cart to return.

Tomorrowland

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

Tomorrowland is probably the land in greatest need of refurbishment. It’s nice to see that the railings are being repainted here, too.

Cast Members have been hard at work keeping the strollers organized in this section of the park, and it’s helped. While there are a lot of strollers parked along the Star Tours queue building, they’re mostly out of the way so guests can walk through the land with more ease than ever before.

We were really excited to pick up this Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge countdown pin at Little Green Men Store Command. The pin costs $17.99 and features our favorite co-pilot, Chewie. Be sure to check out our posts on the monthly pin releases so you can collect these limited edition pins.

Construction walls are still lined up around Star Wars: Path of the Jedi.

And Alien Pizza Planet is still undergoing a massive refurbishment. We’re hoping this refurbishment will make the Toy Story-themed overlay a permanent look for the restaurant.

Mickey’s Toontown

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

For the most part, crowds throughout Mickey’s Toontown have been okay. Most guests flock to the meet and greets, leaving The Gag Factory area free of heavy crowds.

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

Speaking of meet and greets, the path to Mickey’s House was completely overrun with strollers. This wasn’t a huge issue, as the main entrance is currently closed. However, this did cause a lot of traffic problems and chaos.

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

For guests not wanting to brave the stroller madness to meet Mickey, you can opt to meet Goofy over by his house in Toontown.

Frontierland

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

The entrance into Frontierland is very much under refurbishment still. We didn’t think it was possible for this walkway to feel any narrower, but these walls certainly make access in and out of the land more restricted.

We spotted new the Disney Attraction Buttons over in Westward Trading Co., as well as “I’m Here For” buttons. These buttons sets can be purchased for $9.99 each.

Today, we were delighted to see that the scrim along the exterior of Bonanza Outfitters is finally down, revealing a fresh coat of paint to the storefront.

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

It doesn’t look like the raised porch was lowered or given a slow incline like the curbs along Main Street. So guests will have to continue watching their step as they enter and exit the shop.

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

The exterior looks so much better with fresh paint and clean windows.

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

Over on the path leading by Big Thunder Mountain, some construction walls have gone up by the attraction exit. It looks like they might be widening the path in this spot. This area often experiences pockets of crowds due to guests exiting Big Thunder Mountain, and it’ll only get worse once Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens. A wider walkway should be helpful.

Adventureland

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

Sadly, we have no changes to report on the demolition of the Adventureland sign. We’re still waiting for the marquee to return now that they have begun working on widening the walkway.

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

The water to the right has been somewhat drained, so now the foliage by the entrance is looking worse for wear.

New Orleans Square

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

New Orleans Square is as crowded as ever, and we suppose it’s time to adjust to this new normal. Guests are certainly taking advantage of the new stroller parking area that opened up in front of Haunted Mansion.

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

But the Churro Cart Near Haunted Mansion has been relocated to this spot, making it awkward for guests to form a line amongst all of the strollers.

Critter Country

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

The Briar Patch was closed for a few weeks and went through quite a refurbishment. The store now features better lighting and new organized displays for merchandise.

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

Guests can now purchase beverages at The Briar Patch.

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

And the Cast Members have more standing room behind the register counter.

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

Before we left Disneyland Park for the day, we made a stop by Hungry Bear Restaurant. The trail that borders the restaurant and Rivers of America will lead guests to and from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when it opens.

Disneyland Park Photo Report May 15 2019

Up until now, the trail used to lead further back along the water. But now, new walls have pushed the trail closer to the restaurant and new scrim is up. It looks like Cast Members are working on getting this trail ready for when the newest land opens in a couple of weeks.
