Yesterday, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened at Disneyland Park to the masses in what has been regarded one of the smoothest and most well-organized land openings in a very long time. While Galaxy’s Edge had opened to guests with reservations on May 31, yesterday was the first day the land opened to the masses, with complex, yet easy-to-use virtual queue and reservation systems in place to organize travelers to Batuu in groups.

However, there is one thing you can’t quite stave people off from, and it’s the insatiable hunger for Galaxy’s Edge merchandise. Such was the demand for ever-popular kyber crystals (the small stones that activate and unlock lightsabers and holocrons) that at the time of publishing, Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, the only other purveyor of crystals besides the exclusive Savi’s Workshop, is currently sold out of all packaged kyber crystals.

Potentially due to opening dates being moved up, it’s been a common trend so far in the land to see merchandise go out of stock and come back in very limited quantities, but never sell out completely…

Here’s what the shelves are supposed to look like: Jedi holocrons and their accompanying white, green, purple, and blue kyber crystals reside on one side, with Sith holocrons and their red kyber crystals (and the elusive black kyber crystal) on the other.

And here’s what they currently look like:

Due to the shortage, kyber crystals are only obtainable at Dok-Ondar’s exclusively with the purchase of a Jedi or Sith holocron, by which you’ll receive a blue or red kyber crystal, accordingly. (These reportedly come unpackaged as it appears Dok has struck a deal with The Gatherers and obtained a small quantity of loose red and blue kyber crystals just for those who purchase the holocrons.) Without said crystals, the holocrons, much like lightsabers, would not fully function.

This new sign points out the purchase requirement of a holocron in order to be able to then purchase a kyber crystal for an additional $12.99. The fact that there’s a printed sign out already on display leads us to believe the merchandise shortage may last for some time.

Batuuians at Dok-Ondar’s are unsure as to whether another cargo pod of packaged crystals will arrive in time to meet the demand of tomorrow’s travelers. Thankfully, holocrons are still available in large amounts, so that travelers may unlock the secrets of the Force and commune with Jedi and Sith forces alike. If this unlikely kyber crystal shortage has piqued your interest towards holocrons, look no further than this video where we show you some of the holocrons’ secret functions:

We’ll keep you updated regarding the status of the kyber crystal shortage as the weeks progress.

    • Hey if your not into it you don’t if you just spent 215 credits to build a lightsaber than you care.

  1. there all on Ebay for $40.00 apice…what did they think was going to happen. people will go and buy a crap ton and sell them on flea bay for 4 times the price and then go and get more. they may have to limit people to maybe a full set or just a few a day until they get the stock up, plus SGE at WDW starting Aug 11th as per the rumor, they may want to up production for the first years

  2. This is why we don’t get nice things people are greedy and buy up more than they need to mark them up for resale. It shows that most people only care about money.

    • The King James Bible says that: The root of all evil is the love of money. Not ” Money is the root of all evil.” as many people say. Greed is simply the love of money, and boy, are these people greedy.

  3. You forgot to include the yellow Kyber Crystal in this writing. Yellow is in fact a color offered as we bought one there.

  4. Ya resellers are buy it all on bulk all the legacy lightsabers are gone two all up on ebay for double the price great work how to ruin a collector and fan dream & vacation

  5. I bought a sith holocron on a reservation night. I asked the employee standing there if I needed to buy the kyber crystal and he didn’t know nor whether anything would sell out. I went back to on 6/25/19 to buy the jedi holocron and more Crystal’s but was told I needed my receipt for the sith to receive another crystal. Now I have to go back again. Who knows when I’ll be able to get the other crystals. Poor planning. I see videos of people having many crystals. I refuse to pay the $40 to Ebay sellers. They should at least offer these on their web site.

  6. Will these ever be back to normal? Me and my best friends have been planning this trip for next February since we found out it was opening, and as silly as it might sound, if we are paying $200 to build a saber, we want the ability to pay $13 to get the color we actually want. I want white and another wants yellow… you could give people the option to build with those colors too, or have stock set aside for those who actually bought a saber. It would be nice for those who didn’t have a reservation. Let me know how to pass this up to the people who make the decisions please!

  7. If Disney restocks it will be after WDW opens up. I do see a package change for the crystals as of the surprise available, I for one will not purchase another saber until I can buy crystals.
