At the Droid Depot, guests to Black Spire Outpost enter a living, breathing warehouse full of moving droid parts where you can build (and adopt) your very own R- or BB- series astromech droid. You can also purchase other, pre-assembled droids, as well as a variety of merchandise here in their massive Droid Depot store. However, we’re here just for droid building today.
The Droid Depot is right next to Savi’s Workshop, where you can build your own lightsaber. If you’re looking for ways to build your own souvenirs within the Black Spire Outpost, make sure to check out these two shops!

The entrance to the Droid Depot welcomes you with its shop name above the doorway in Aurebesh.
You may find the line for the droid building experience outside of the shop due to popular demand. We waited about 20 minutes to begin the process with the line stretching outside.
Inside the Droid Depot
Various droid parts move on a conveyor overhead.
After waiting in line, you reach a register where you pick a droid type and then render payment. Keep in mind that no discounts are applicable.
Before you get to the register, you can see all available parts on the wall of the queue.
Once you pay, you’ll receive a basket top put the parts in, as well as instructions on how to put your droid together. They’re also on the walls above the conveyor belt, which is your next shop. The conveyor belt of droid pieces offers you a wide variety of options for your own custom-built droid. It can be a bit overwhelming at first, given all the combinations that are possible, but the right droid parts will call to you. I think this is more fun than just reaching into a bin.

Upon finishing, your droid is yours to take to your home planet, but make sure you keep it boxed, or the First Order might give you some trouble.
They also sell a carrying bag for them, if you wish.
The droid building experience is pretty fun and the droids are of a good quality. You can also perpetually upgrade and modify your droid with a slew of accessories and personality chips, which are meant to expand your droid’s connectivity (and interactivity) with other droids and elements in the land.

I think I saw a video on YouTube that showed them being $17.99.
This was a nice overview of what happened, but I was hoping for more of a review of the product too, as the headline suggested.
What was your opinion? Was the time wait and experience worth it?
Would you do it again?
Did the person completing the the droid find they were using it again after the intiral experience? DId the droid hold up well? (Some reviews stated the BB units were opening up.) How is the material quality? Does the food seem durable as if an older child could actually play with it or should it be relegated to a shelf? (An expensive dust gatherer.) etc etc
How do you get the droid to turn on again after you haven’t been using it for a little while? Both power switches are on but th droid won’t move. Does it go into a sleep mode?
I think you might need to pair the remote to the droid again. Press the round, red button on the top of the remote, above the one that activates the sound effects.
It does go into a sleep mode but can’t figure out how to turn it back on without having to open the droid back up ._.
Out of curiosity, what’s the height and width of each model of droid? (Like, in inches?)
They’re 12 inches tall, I haven’t measured the width, but probably 6 inches.

so I purchased a pre bulit r2 unit but cant see to pair it with the controller…..anyone have any ideas?
It appears that the droids simply don’t interact with each other, and that the cast members were misinformed. I don’t know for sure, but I’ve been watching a bunch of videos on Droid Depot and building droids and that seems to be the case. I hope I’m wrong, because my son and I plan to get a droid each soon and it’d be awesome if they interacted at home.
We bought 2 of them and they definitely interact. It is not often, but if we have them near each other and do not touch the remote they will spin and speak to each other. We were not able to get a resistance, first order or smuggler chip because they were sold out. They have general personality chips when you buy them and they will still interact with certain parts of galaxy’s edge while in the box, even with the neutral chip.

Did you guys bought your own droids at the same time? Because my two siblings and I want each of our own droids. But I kept reading through some websites that it is one per builder in the group?

The bb Droid you have to open the ball and turn off the power button on the motor. It’s a pain I know but that’s how my son does it. I have the R-2 unit and the switch is on the bottom. Hope that helps
Hello, I purchased the pre-built R2 unit and was told that the accessories work with it. I’m having trouble attaching the R-series jet attachments to the legs. Any help please? Thanks
