REVIEW: New Double Cheeseburger and Loaded Fries Served With a Side of Bad Guest Service at Hungry Bear Restaurant in Disneyland Park

When Hungry Bear Restaurant in Disneyland Park added the seasonal Chocolate and Coffee Funnel Cake to the menu, one of the best funnel cakes thus far, I was excited to try more items from the menu. But the new Double Cheeseburger and Loaded Fries at Hungry Bear came with little else but disappointment and awful service.

The double cheeseburger is available for $13.99 and you can order loaded fries at an additional $1.99 cost. The loaded fries aren’t advertised on the menu or with any sign, but you can add this to your order if you ask the Cast Member at the register.

Before we even get into this review, let’s dive right into my disappointment with Hungry Bear. I’d seen a photo of what these loaded fries are supposed to look like, so I had expectations for these. When the Cast Member handed me the order, I was at a loss for words. Surely this must be a joke? Shouldn’t loaded fries be loaded?

The toppings looked pathetic, so I kindly asked if I could have more toppings added to my fries. I even mentioned that I’ve seen what they’re supposed to look like, so I knew this wasn’t right. I was rudely told they don’t serve any more toppings, then I was shooed aside while they proceeded to fulfill the next order. When it comes to the Disneyland Resort, and any Disney Park for that matter, guests pay for quality service. And this is by far some of the worst service I have ever experienced at Disneyland.

For as pathetic as the loaded fries look, they tasted great. They’re topped with a creamy cheese sauce, bacon pieces, green onions, and cilantro cream sauce. The flavors all work really well together and I couldn’t get enough of the cilantro cream sauce. If you order an entree at Hungry Bear, then I suggest paying a little extra for these toppings. Even a little bit goes a long way when it tastes this good.

However, the same cannot be said for the double cheeseburger. The burger itself is incredibly dry and lacking in flavor. And the cheese and grilled onions were pretty pathetic, too. I’m not one to waste food, but this was only worth a few bites at most.

Unfortunately, the loaded fries can only be ordered with the purchase of an entree and Hungry Bear consistently has the worst burgers on Disney property, so we likely will not be eating these again. And in all honesty, the awful service has turned me away from Hungry Bear more than the disappointing food. So please do yourself a favor and dine somewhere else during your next visit to Disneyland Park.

  1. If the item isn’t on any menu, how do you know what it’s supposed to look like? Sorry, no refunds.

  2. If they still have the burgers that are like In’n’Out’s at Flo’s over at DCA, I’ll go for that instead of Hungry Bear (whose sauce is also like In’n’Out’s if I recall correctly).

  3. When you want to eat something that looks like comes out of the wrong end of a baby order the loaded fries at Hungry Bear Restaurant
