We love dessert, especially those served at Disneyland Park. And you can never go wrong with a cupcake when you’re in the mood for a sweet treat. We recently stopped by Jolly Holiday Bakery to indulge in our sweet tooth and we spotted this new Steamboat Willie Cupcake on display. Never one to turn down a new dessert, we had to give this a try.

Steamboat Willie Cupcake – $3.99

Much like the animated short that debuted in 1928, this cupcake has made a huge impression on us. It’s a white cake cupcake with thick gray frosting, decorated with a sprinkle of chocolate shavings and a white chocolate Steamboat Willie. As far as looks, it’s a fairly standard cupcake––until you cut it open. We were pleasantly surprised by the fruit filling. The Cast Member didn’t tell us what flavor the fruit filling is, but we would say boysenberry, based on taste and the size of the seeds.

You might be thinking that a cupcake with buttercream frosting and a boysenberry filling would taste weird, but we really loved this dessert. Disneyland Resort isn’t known for their selection of cupcakes like Walt Disney World is, but guests looking to eat one here will be satisfied with this option. It was so light and refreshing, and not at all too sweet to finish. There isn’t much flavor to the cake and frosting, so it’s the filling that really pulls this cupcake together.

If you’re someone who likes dessert but can’t finish those rich, overly sweet options, then this cupcake is perfect for you. The Steamboat Willie Cupcake offers a refreshing twist on the classic dessert, which seems to fit right in with the animated cartoon it was inspired by.
