If we’re not enjoying a stroll through Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, we’re making our way through Downtown Disney. It’s a great place to wander through, especially if your Annual Pass is blocked out of both Parks for the summer. Here are all the updates from our trip to Downtown Disney District, including Pixar Pals pedestrian bridge construction and new merchandise.

First, let’s start by Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals parking structures. There is a lot of construction going on at the moment. Work is being done to enhance the old tram drop-off area in the quad between the structures. At the moment, trees are being planted.

We’re surprised to see all of the trees that will fill up this area, making it really lush and green when it’s done.

And there’s major work being done next to the one set of elevators at Mickey & Friends. It’s too soon to say what’s being built, but we hope it’s another set of elevators.

Across the street, concrete is being laid by the Downtown Disney sign on the corner of Magic Way and Disneyland Drive. It looks as if there will be a new walkway into Downtown Disney through the parking lot, under the pedestrian bridge.

And speaking of the pedestrian bridge, the rest of the roof has been installed.

From this view at Pixar Pals, guests can catch a glimpse of the construction in the Downtown Disney parking lot. The bridge is expected to be accessible in mid-September, so progress is happening fast over here.

The wooden foundation of the bridge is finally being covered in concrete.

For those of you who haven’t had the chance to visit Pop-Up Disney! A Mickey Celebration, you have a little over a month left to do so. The exhibition will be closing after September 2, Labor Day.

There’s no word yet on what will become of this space after Pop-Up Disney! closes.

Just as there is no word on what’s to be done with the former Rainforest Cafe. The restaurant has been closed for over a year now, yet it still stands in Downtown Disney as wasted space.

In case you missed it, Pin Traders in Downtown Disney has stopped selling all new, limited edition pins for the time being. Guests looking to purchase these pins will have to visit either Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure.

In Disney Home, we spotted a new “The Nightmare Before Christmas” tray on sale for $14.99. This ceramic tray features Jack and Sally, our favorite spooky couple.

As we make our way out of Disney Home and on to World of Disney, we notice that Downtown Disney is busier than it has been this summer, thus far.

In World of Disney, we spot two new baseball hats available for $27.99. The first is this Junk Food Clothing trucker hat featuring Flower from “Bambi.”

And the second is this hot pink hat bedazzled with a Mickey Ice Cream Bar.

If you’ve been on the hunt for a new keychain, you might enjoy this Pirates of the Caribbean keychain for $12.99.

If you are a fan of the 30th Anniversary “The Little Mermaid” Collection, then you will love this new Shell Purse. It’s available for $24.99 and comes in a gorgeous silver metallic material. In the light, it really does have a mermaid quality to it. Ariel’s signature on the bottom helps, too.

The windbreakers we spotted in Disneyland Park last week have finally made their way into Downtown Disney.

And it looks like the Disney Tails Collection just keeps getting bigger. The Tie Dye Briar Rose Spirit Jersey is now available for pets for only $34.99. Now you, your child, and your pet can all match!

And just as we’re about to head over to one of the Parks, we notice that this former vendor stand by the tram loading area is still boarded up.

  1. Is it weird I have enjoyed watching updates for Disneyland’s new parking structure more than Galaxy’s Edge? XD
