The summer crowds are here! It took a couple of months, but Disneyland Resort is finally feeling the impact of higher crowds. We decided to take an afternoon stroll through Disney California Adventure and we found new updates to share. Keep reading to see what the Park is looking like these days.
Disney California Adventure
Buena Vista Street
It’s a little busy once we make it through the turnstiles. This is just the beginning of the crowds we’ll see throughout Disney California Adventure.
The construction walls that went up around the Red Car Trolley Station certainly haven’t helped with the flow of guests coming into the Park.
Outside Los Feliz Five & Dime, Cast Members have put out a display of new “The Nightmare Before Christmas” Ear Headbands and plushies.
Inside the store, we found a new Sebastian Plush on sale for $19.99. This plush looks to be part of “The Little Mermaid” 30th Anniversary Collection.
We also managed to find the new Haunted Mansion Disney Parks Wishables on sale. The mystery pack contains either Ezra, Phineas, Constance, or The Hatbox Ghost. For $9.99, you can test your chance at getting your favorite ghost.
Or you can simply purchase Gus, who is also available for $9.99.
We spotted new Disney Parks Collection Jewelry available and we love this bracelet and necklace inspired by “Aladdin.” Both items are available for $19.99 each.
This beautiful Ariel necklace is also on sale for $19.99.
Across the street in Julius Katz & Sons, the new Hidden Mickey Kitchen and Houseware collection is on display.
Five & Dime are one of the rare daily performing groups that haven’t been cut at Disney California Adventure. We managed to catch them performing with Goofy to a crowd of people on Buena Vista Street.
The crowds heading into the rest of Disney California are pretty heavy, so we make way for Hollywood Land first.
Hollywood Land
Hollywood Land is pretty busy today, but we’ve seen worse.
At Off the Page, new Figurines by Noah are for sale. These figurines pay homage to several popular attractions in Disneyland Park.
Meanwhile across the way, Award Wieners seating area is still under refurbishment.
The refurbishment stretches all the way into Mickey’s PhilharMagic queue. By the time this work is finally done, we will have a reimagined seating area that should be better themed.
Of all places, we never expected to find Zero on a Leash for sale at the merchandise stand outside Mickey’s PhilharMagic. But here he is!
We also found this new baseball hat that celebrates 80 years of Marvel. This hat is on sale for $27.99.
It looks like Frozen Live at the Hyperion is might be suffering from cutbacks. The show typically plays several times throughout the day starting at noon. But now it’s only scheduled for one performance at 5 PM.
But the Hyperion Theater Cast Members are still having fun with guests. They’ve brought out tic-tac-toe games to play.
The Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission – Breakout! queue and FastPass distribution is still under refurbishment. Cast Members continue to redirect guests looking to join the line.
Inside The Collector’s Warehouse, an 80 Years of Marvel t-shirt is available for $34.99. It’s a perfect match for the new baseball hat.
Marvel Superhero Land
Speaking of Marvel, there aren’t many visible signs of progress from this pathway view. But a whole lot is happening to get this Land ready for 2020. Check out the concept art for the upcoming Spider-Man attraction, as well as a map and layout of what the Land is expected to look like.
Cars Land
Cars Land is feeling busy today, with heavier foot traffic than it’s had all summer.
If you’re not into waiting in line, in the heat, to ride Radiator Springs Racers, then we suggest meeting Mater by Cozy Cone Motel instead. The line is much shorter and meeting Mater always makes for a fun experience.
Pixar Pier
Of all the Lands in Disney California Adventure thus far, Pixar Pier definitely has the most crowds.
The line for Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats was fairly long. This location does accept mobile ordering now, which makes waiting for a frozen treat in this summer heat much more bearable.
We haven’t seen the line for Incredicoaster extend up onto the Pier walkway like this since before May 31.
If you’re not ready to wait in line to ride Incredicoaster, Jessie’s Critter Carousel next door has a much shorter wait time.
Typically we see Bo Peep meeting guests outside of Toy Story Midway Mania, but today we happened to pass Woody making an appearance.
You never know what you might find when walking through a Disney Park. Today, we noticed that the Popcorn Cart on Pixar Pier has a new toy churning the popcorn: Duke Caboom!
We’re sad to report that Mickey Mouse has gone missing from the top of Silly Symphony Swings. It’s unclear why he’s away, but we hope for his safe return soon. The attraction doesn’t feel right without its conductor.
Those peaceful moments walking by Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind are gone. Quite the whirlwind of people and strollers were occupying this area today.
Paradise Gardens Park
A sure sign of higher than average crowds in Disney California Adventure is when the queue for The Little Mermaid Ariel’s Undersea Adventure extends down onto Paradise Gardens Park. Yikes.
If you were hoping to score one of the new Lion King Popcorn Buckets, you’re in luck! These are still available at the vendor cart in Paradise Gardens Park near the Tale of the Lion King stage.
Speaking of Tale of the Lion King, performances of this show have been reduced. The show used to start at 11:30 AM, but the earlier afternoon shows have been cut. Cast Members couldn’t say if the heat was a contributing factor to this or not.
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Nick and Judy greeting guests! Their presence was a welcome sight among guests.
Grizzly Peak
A large crowd of people can be seen heading for Grizzly River Run to cool off on this hot day. Unfortunately, the attraction was temporarily closed in the middle of the afternoon.
