As for the rest of the west end of Downtown Disney, it feels like a ghost town.
Nothing is being done with the abandoned Rainforest Cafe.
Pop-Up! Disney will be closing September 2, which couldn’t come soon enough. There haven’t been many guests coming through the exhibit since it first opened in April.
On our way to Pixar Pals, we stopped for a look at the progress to the pedestrian bridge. This bridge is slated to open mid-September and will take guests from Level 2 (Coco) of Pixar Pals into Downtown Disney.
The side railings and paneling are being installed along the bridge.
And it looks like a concrete path has been laid with trees planted alongside it. Guests will follow this new path into Downtown Disney.
As for the new tram drop-off area in the quad between Pixar Pals and Mickey & Friends parking structure, it’s come a long way. It appears the trees have all been planted. This will be quite a lush and green area.
There is still a lot of ground that’s just dirt and hasn’t been laid with brickwork yet.
But portions of the ground have been laid with bricks, so it seems like its only a matter of time before the whole area is complete. Hopefully, it’ll be done around the same time as the pedestrian bridge.
And guests will be overjoyed to learn that a new set of elevators are being built at Mickey & Friends! This should help, seeing as two elevators haven’t been enough at the parking structure, especially during busier times of the day.
