PHOTOS: New Haunted Mansion Hatbox Ghost Loungefly Purse Materializes at Disney Parks

Rest in Peace, Hatbox Ghost. We hardly knew ye. Actually, here at Walt Disney World, we never knew him at all, as he was never a part of our Haunted Mansion, but we’re nevertheless excited at the release of this amazing new purse by Loungefly.

The Hatbox Ghost was a Haunted Mansion original, debuting alongside the attraction in Disneyland on August 9th, 1969.

Due to lighting issues, the figure was eventually removed, only to make a triumphant return in 2015 to the joy of many fans. You can read even more about the Hatbox Ghost’s troubled history in a fascinating Road to the Ride piece by clicking here.

Now with the attraction’s 50th anniversary right around the graveyard, a whole slew of merch has been released. We’re even running out of funny Haunted Mansion puns to present these to you, but nevertheless, we drag on.

Now with that little bit of history out of the way, it’s back to the purse. This Hatbox Ghost Loungefly purse is in the shape of a hatbox itself, lined with black faux leather and a middle section with clear vinyl so you can see the Hatbox Ghost’s head when clipped inside.

From a functional perspective, it can be a troublesome design.

The moment you put anything in this bag, you won’t be able to see Hatbox Ghost’s head, but for Disneybounding or cosplaying purposes, it’s perfect. Alternatively, you could also clip the Hatbox Ghost to the zipper pulls and have his head proudly on display.

The purse retails for $75.00 and we found it, of course, at Memento Mori in the Magic Kingdom. Over at Disneyland, it can also be found at Port Royal Curios and Curiosities. Will you be hitchhiking a ride over for this purse? Better do it before it disappears.
