Operation of Disneyland’s Matterhorn Bobsleds was reduced to one track on Thursday after a large piece of plaster rockwork fell during after-hours maintenance, according to The Orange County Register‘s Brady MacDonald.
According to MacDonald, Disneyland officials stated that the chunk of plaster, roughly the size of a bedroom door, fell early Thursday morning, before the park opened to guests, and was discovered by a maintenance crew. In a statement, Disneyland officials said that “during overnight maintenance, a portion of decorative rockwork was found to be in need of repair, which we are working quickly to make.” No injuries were reported.
And while the rockwork didn’t fall onto any part of the attraction’s two tracks, the side of the attraction where the rockwork broke and fell was closed on Thursday, reducing the attraction to one track, which remained operational.

Undiscovered earthquake damage? Maybe?
My brother was an ironworker at Disneyland ..he worked there for 20 years he mentioned to me that the matterhorn structure was not safe ..I heard it from another cast member also ..it needs to be torn down and rebuilt ..
Maybe that small basketball court inside the mountain, for cast members, has started causing damage/shaking (along with occasional earthquakes doing the same thing). Please get it fixed, Disney, before I come to ride in mid October.
