REVIEW: New Vampire Mickey Ice Cream Bar, Oogie Boogie Man Sundae, and Spider Silk Sandwich at Clarabelle’s for Halloween Time 2019 at Disney California Adventure

Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream on Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure has some wonderful Halloween Time specials available right now through October 31st, 2019, so let’s check them out before they fly away!

Vampire Mickey Ice Cream Bar ($6.49)

We opted for Vampire Mickey as fans of the macabre, but there’s also a Minnie Witch Ice Cream Bar for $5.69.

This is pretty much your standard ice cream bar from Clarabelle’s with a vampire bat cookie, which was actually kind of gross due to it having no flavor and a strange texture to it. Hey, at least it was cute. The chocolate dipped bar itself was good, though. The vanilla ice cream had tons of sweet vanilla bean flecks and the chocolate and sprinkles added some extra flair. Do keep in mind that it does melt fast in the heat, though.

Boogie Man Sundae ($7.49)

The Boogie Man Sundae was good, but it’s really just a mint chocolate chip sundae with Halloween candy, made to look like Oogie Boogie. It’s not bad, but it’s ultimately nothing special. If you like mint chocolate chip ice cream, you’ll love this, however.

The candy is a nice, fun addition, with gummy worms, sprinkles, and candy corn pieces.

We’d opt for this over the Mickey bar, to be honest. It’s comparably a better value and far more shareable if you’re with a group. The chocolate dipped waffle cone is good, too, and that’s coming from taste testers who usually shun waffle cones.

Spiked Hard Apple Float ($15.50)

There was no Spiked Apple Float available to day as the shipment hadn’t arrived yet.

Spider Silk Ice Cream Sandwich ($6.49)

“Black macaron with charcoal-tart cherry spun ice cream topped with popping candy and drops of raspberry sauce.”

While it may not have been the most appetizing thing to look at, this one gets a lot of points for originality. Charcoal-Tart Cherry is another ice cream type that you can’t get at any other time of year, and I would most equate it to a muted cherry flavor. The popping candy is a fun addition and the raspberry sauce is a nice touch, but if you have to choose one item, go for sundae.
