PHOTOS: Toontown Hills Removed from Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland as Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway Beautification Project Begins

As Disneyland prepares for the arrival of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway in 2022, Mickey’s Toontown will be undergoing major renovations. The first of these projects includes the removal of the Toontown Hills behind the buildings of cartoon metropolis.

Gone are the hills, leaving blue skies over the Toontown businesses.

Not all of the hills have come down. It is unclear if more have to, but we suspect the hills that are gone will be replaced with new hills which will be attached to the Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway show building that will sit back there. At least we hope so…

  1. I remember when TDA first opened in the mid 90s. It was called the weenie or hot dog building. The exterior was yellow (mustard) on one side, and green (relish) on the other with all the weenies in between.
