REVIEW: Power Up the Hyperdrive For The New Chocolate Popcorn with Crait Red Salt at Kat Saka’s Kettle in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland

In order to better appeal to the various dietary needs and changing tastes of travelers to Batuu, there are five new food items located throughout Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Park. These are exciting additions, as Galaxy’s Edge is still a relatively new land, but it seems they’ve been tailoring menus and adding to them in response to guest feedback. There are some new vegan items, like the Ronto-less Garden Wrap at Ronto Roasters, and some… very not-so-vegan options, like the new Kyryll Pork Rinds. This time, we’re heading to Kat Saka’s Kettle for the all-new Chocolate Popcorn with Crait Red Salt.

This is your typical kettle corn from Kat Saka’s, except covered in chocolate and doused in salt from Crait, the now-uninhabited red mineral world dusted by a layer of white salt which reflects the planet’s sunlight. Once a Rebel Alliance outpost, Crait has now become a safe haven for the fleeing Resistance forces. And we’ve gotta say, the planet’s source mineral makes for some tasty popcorn.

This popcorn was excellent, with just the perfect amount of chocolate to give it flavor, yet still retain lots of crunch. It had just the right amount of sweetness, with hints of salt cutting any potential cloyingness.

We’d get this again for sure. It’s just as good as the Outpost Popcorn Mix, but a definite must-have if you’re a chocolate lover. Given all the new vegan items out in the parks now, we asked if this was vegan. After all, it’s popped using coconut oil, which, disturbingly enough, is the second ingredient in Blue and Green Milk. (I’m sorry.) Unfortunately, no leaf means no-go for our vegan friends, as the popcorn is not vegan.

You can purchase a bag of the chocolate popcorn at Kat Saka’s Kettle in the Marketplace for $6.49 or opt to get it in an MSE-6 Series Repair Droid Souvenir Popcorn Vessel for $19.99.
