Permit Filed for “Lighted Steel Panels” as Part of Extensive Haunted Mansion Refurbishment at Disneyland

The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Park closed today for a longer than normal refurbishment, and we finally have some insight into the scope of the work. According to a permit filed today with the City of Anaheim, the work seems to include improvements to the attraction, not just cosmetic work.

The full description of the permit is as follows “962 sq ft for (14) new 9’5″ steel panels with lights. Create new opening in existing stud wall for a picture box”. What exactly the lighted steel panels may be is unclear, but we did know the refurbishment would bring “improved lighting“.

A new opening in a wall for a picture box is intriguing as it is unknown if this will be an improvement of a current feature or a brand new one. What we do know is that this refurbishment will be extensive and guests visiting the Haunted Mansion in a few months will see a well-maintained attraction.

Usually, Haunted Mansion closes for a few weeks after Haunted Mansion Holiday to change the attraction back over. However, this refurbishment is expected to last until April 30th, although the Disneyland website only states “spring 2020” as the reopening date.
