Oh, it’s a jolly holly day with hand pie! Hand pie makes your heart so light!
Mary Poppins riffs aside, we’re back at everyone’s favorite Disneyland bakery for the simple, yet new Strawberry Hand Pie at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe.
While this may seem like a regular Pop Tart at first glance, (and in many ways, it is just a Pop Tart) its flaky buttery crust really sets it aside.
The Strawberry Hand Pie has strawberry jam filling on the inside that’s encased between two layers of flaky soft pastry crust. On top, you have pretty purple icing, white chocolate snowflakes, and sprinkles.
Overall, it’s a good treat, and certainly Instagrammable.
The outside breading was soft and crumbly, with a sweet, buttery taste.
The inside filling was thick, but also added a touch of sweetness.
The purple icing made for a beautiful pastry, but we didn’t notice that much of a taste to it. The white chocolate snowflakes and sprinkles did add some crunch, which was fun.
Compared to the many stellar pastries and macarons to be had here, we’d have a hard time labeling it as a must-have, but if you’re looking for something cheap and not too filling or messy (or you’re on sabbatical from churro tasting), you can get this hand pie for just $4.99 at Jolly Holiday.
