Paradise Garden Grill, a regular park food stand, has switched its menu to a special menu with new offerings for the 2020 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival. With some items returning from last year, half of the food items are new, so we’re excited to try some new dishes.

Impossible™ Meatball Submarine (Plant-Based) – $11.99
This menu item is back for the second year in a row and it’s still delicious. It’s hard for us to believe it’s meatless because it tastes like a real meatball. Again, we thought they must have mixed up the meatballs from the next-door Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta. This is a great option for vegetarian eaters. The kettle chips were still a little plain and mediocre like last year.
*NEW* Beer-battered Fish Tacos, with Karl Strauss® Follow the Sun Pilsner-infused Batter – $13.49
These pair of tacos are served on corn tortillas filled with flakey, beer-battered cod, cabbage slaw, pico de gallo, and yogurt crema. They also come with a side of corn tortilla chips. Unfortunately, these tacos were pretty lackluster. Overall, the flavor profile was boring. The fish and tortilla were bland and the large amount of cabbage made it almost impossible to get a mix of all the flavors in one bite. We say that you should give this dish a hard pass.
Buffalo-style Roasted Turkey Leg with Celery Slaw and Blue Cheese (Gluten-Friendly) – $12.99
This was an interesting addition to the menu this year. The turkey leg itself was a little dry and tasted no different from the turkey legs being offered at carts throughout the Resort. We didn’t love the blue cheese, however, we loved the rest of the toppings. The celery slaw was very flavorful and added some freshness to the dry turkey. This leg was huge and a little tough, so fork and knife are needed when eating this.
*NEW* Brisket Sliders – $12.49
These sliders come with a solid scoop of BBQ brisket topped with an apple slaw to make a sweet and savory flavor combination. The sandwiches come with a side of standard Disney Parks French fries. The brisket is tenderly cooked, with a nice spice giving it some mild heat. The brisket pairs beautifully with the fruity flavors of the apple slaw. We enjoyed these sliders and think they make a great snack!
*NEW* Brisket Fries – $13.49
If you’re looking for a larger portion size of meat than the sliders, you may be better off ordering the brisket fries. This plate of fries is served loaded with BBQ brisket, cheddar cheese sauce, green onions, pico de gallo, and a drizzle of chipotle crema. Our fries arrived to us piping hot. While the ingredients were basic, we thought these fries were delicious. The brisket was the same served on the sliders and easily pulled apart. The cheddar cheese was basic, but tasty. The chipotle crema added a mild kick and the green onions brought some freshness to the plate, boosting the flavors and textures.
Black Forest Parfait – $5.99
This new dessert item was a nice choice. The vanilla, chocolate, and cherry flavors all paired very well together. The cake was slightly dry, but the mousse and vanilla chantilly balanced that out. It’s a little small for the price, but we really enjoyed it.
*NEW* Watermelon Vodka Lemonade (Alcoholic, Gluten-Friendly) – $13.00
Matanzas Creek, Sauvignon Blanc, Sonoma County – $11.00
Deschutes Pacific Wonderland Lager – $10.00
Sudwerk Märzen Amber Lager – $10.00
*NEW* Berry Spectacular Cookie Shake (Non-Alcoholic) – $6.99
This shake is a blend of mixed berries, whole milk, yogurt, and iced animal cookies crumbles. It’s topped with a good pinch of rainbow sprinkles and an icing-covered animal cookie. Presentation-wise, our shake looked a little sad. It was missing the whipped cream on top, so our animal cracker slowly sank down in the drink. This shake was basic with the most prominent taste being an artificial berry one. We tasted hints of the cookie, but wanted more. It also wasn’t a practical to drink through a paper straw (the only kind available at Disneyland Resort), which resulted in a soggy paper mess. This shake is a miss for us.
