REVIEW: NEW Island Pork Toasted Sandwich is a Tasty Addition (Sorry, Pua) to Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe at Disneyland

Magic is happening today with the debut of the newest daytime spectacular, “Magic Happens”, at Disneyland park. With the help of Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios, this incredible new parade comes to life with stunning floats, energetic music, artistic costumes, and now, thanks to some fabulous Disneyland chefs, a few deliciously magical eats and treats. These brand new bites were created to celebrate the latest addition to the park’s lineup of fun entertainment offerings. Since the parade marches right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A., it’s only fitting that these items can be found at Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor, Refreshment Corner, and Jolly Holiday Bakery Café. Today, we start our “Magic Happens” parade food tour at Jolly Holiday Bakery Café.

We have another savory item, the Island Pork Toasted Sandwich. With the arrival of the “Magic Happens” parade at Disneyland, we now have the perfect sandwich to sit and eat as it passes by. Likely themed after the impressive Moana float in the parade (sorry, Pua) this sandwich includes Black Forest ham, kalua smoked pork, Monterey Jack cheese, pineapple relish, and cilantro served with house-made chips. This sandwich will make any day feel like a Jolly Holiday.

The sourdough bread surrounding the meat of the sandwich was very good… crunchy, but not too hard to bite. The pork was extremely good, very flavorful and tender, and very well marinated. The ham was also great, not chewy like we’ve seen other ham be at the Disneyland Resort. The chips were the usual house-made chips… salty, but enjoyable. Good portion size, too.

The cheese melted into the meat, which made each bite savory and rich. The pineapple provided a great flavor burst to the sandwich and really pulled everything in for that Hawaiian flavor. The cilantro and relish added an much-welcomed kick. We were at Jolly Holiday, but this felt like it could have been served at the Tropical Hideaway.

Overall, this is a good option for anyone going to see the new “Magic Happens” parade at Disneyland. Jolly Holiday is a prime viewing area for the parade, and this sandwich will be a welcome sight when you are kicking back watching the new parade.
