REVIEW: New Strawberry Cream Valentine’s Day Heart Macaron at Clarabelle’s in Disney California Adventure

Macarons have become a fan-favorite treat at Disneyland Resort, and even Disney California Adventure is getting in on the action just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The Strawberry Cream Valentine’s Day Heart Macaron is the latest treat to hit the pastry case at Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream, and features red and white heart-shaped cookies, heart-shaped sprinkles, and strawberry buttercream filling with a strawberry compote center.

The shell of this treat was soft, but had a good crunch. It almost tasted a little buttery, but was definitely on the sweet side.

The strawberry jelly inside was very tart. When you take a big bite, you get the soft cookie outside, as well as a chewy consistency from the jelly. While we usually love sweets, this one was very sugary. The inside filling wasn’t evenly distributed throughout the treat, as some parts had more than others, making some bite a little strange.

Overall, this was a fun Valentine’s Day themed treat, but is very tart, and can be a bit much for people who don’t want something that’s too cloyingly sweet. This treat is priced at $5.99 and does not include an annual pass discount. We suggest splitting this macaron or otherwise opting for the Valentine’s Day ice cream bar, also available at Clarabelle’s.
