As one of our reporters waited in line for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance this afternoon, she and other guests were subject to ongoing power outages within the ride’s queue, leaving guests in near pitch darkness at times.
Thankfully, the area was not totally dark due to emergency lighting in the area.
Our reporter — who was in boarding group 47 — heard periodic communication from Cast Members via a loudspeaker in the queue area. As the power outage occurred, the ride itself was down. The queue line began moving, but then stopped again. The ride has been down for about an hour and a half on one of Disneyland’s busiest days of the week.

Maybe I’m not remembering, but it seems like power failures are happening more recently lately at both Disney and Universal. Not good from a public safety standpoint.
Not only was the ride closed for hours, but when it finally reopened many effects were not working. There was no lightsaber and no 2nd Kylo. B mode didn’t work either, so we were just staring at static windows.
We experienced the ride going down 3 of the 4 times we tried riding it the past week – each time it took about 1.5-2 hours to reboot it. It didn’t seem to be due to a power outage, but Monday, Friday, and Saturday were not good days for Rise last week.
