PHOTOS: Aerial Images of an Empty Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Surface Weeks After Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic Closure

While we’ve been able to keep an eye on Walt Disney World throughout the extended closure thanks to our friend @bioreconstruct, over at Disneyland Resort, it’s been a while since anyone got a peek at anything other than the closed entrance gates. Disneyland Resort officially closed due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic concerns on March 14. Just yesterday, Disney announced that the parks would be closed until further notice. Now, we have some of the first aerial images of Disneyland and Disney California Adventure since the closure took place.

UK newspaper The Sun ran a video just today including sweeping views of the two empty parks. Here, we see the Disneyland entrance completely void of any guests or activity.

Panning out towards Main Street, U.S.A., the turn-of-the-century town seems eerie and empty.

Moving over to Disney California Adventure, all of Pixar Pier’s usual kinetic energy is at a standstill, with none of the rides in motion. An empty Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, seen in the lower right-hand corner, is evidenced by the lack of people in the pool or the surrounding grounds.

  1. Hoping the whole Disney family is safe and sound and healthy! You all work sooooo hard to make all of your visitors truly feel the magic when we visit! Our family was able to visit this year- as we do every year since 1972- before this pandemic was here in the U.S. and as always, had an incredible time! Hoping you are all taking care of yourselves!

I’m still working, as I am a nurse. But thinking of you all….

  2. What I miss the most, and I hope many would agree…I miss simply the experience of going to Disneyland. That moment when you first walk into the gate, enter through the tunnel under the train tracks and see Main Street…you get that feeling like “Alright, I’m here…this is gonna be fantastic!..” and you’re off completely leaving the real world behind for the day. Enjoying the attractions, food, the atmosphere, all of it. It’s heartbreaking seeing these pics of the park so empty, feels like the one thing that could cheer us all up we can’t go because of this pedemic. Hopefully we’ll get to return in a few months, however long it takes but I know once we’re clear for it, that’s where I’m going.
