REVIEW: New Char Siu Pork Rib Rice Bowl Is Nothing Short Of Disappointing In Disneyland

With the opening of Regal Eagle Smokehouse over on the East Coast, it seems Disneyland was feeling a bit left out when it came to barbecue. Luckily (or not so luckily) they were quick to rectify it with the new Char Siu Pork Rib Rice Bowl in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Indiana Jones Adventure.

The new bowl comes with grilled ribs that are basted with a Cantonese BBQ sauce and served with steamed rice. This big bowl is available fittingly at Bengal Barbecue in Disneyland and will cost you $13.99, which is pretty pricey, but we hoped that MAYBE, just maybe it would be worth it. (Narrator: But it was not worth it.)

In a nutshell, this dish was very disappointing. That’s right… not just disappointing, but VERY disappointing. The pork was not just fatty, but very hard to pull off the bone, which made eating it even more difficult than ribs normally are. Altogether, the meat quality was just poor and could be much better.

One positive was the sauce, which was tangy, but unfortunately did not do much to help. The rice was fine but once again, very basic. At the end of the day, the dish is just overpriced and bad.

Our suggestion is to save your money and order something else. There are so many better options from Bengal Barbecue, you’re better off ordering any one of their specialty skewers.
