All Disneyland Grad Nite 2020 Parties Cancelled Through June 13 Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic

As schools are cancelled for the remainder of the academic year, high school seniors are now looking forward to virtual graduation ceremonies due to the stay-at-home orders issued throughout the nation in response to COVID-19. Now, another rite of passage for high schoolers, Grad Nite, has been cancelled as well.

Typically, Grad Nite at Disneyland is a once-in-a-lifetime event where high school seniors get a private party for themselves (and various other schools) throughout the parks. Disneyland Resort Grad Nite was scheduled for the following select dates in May and June 2020:

  • May 8, 9, 15, 16, 20, 26, 27, 29, or 30
  • June 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 12, or 13

In light of recommendations by school and government officials to limit gatherings for the remainder of the academic year in response to COVID-19, Disneyland has made the difficult decision to cancel Disneyland Resort Grad Nite 2020.

The following statement was posted regarding the cancellation on the Disney Youth Programs website:

“While there is still much uncertainty with respect to the impacts of the unprecedented COVID-19 situation, the safety and well-being of our Guests and Cast Members remain the top priority of the Disneyland Resort. In light of recommendations by school and government officials to limit gatherings for the remainder of the academic year, we are making the difficult decision to cancel Disneyland Resort Grad Nite 2020.

Because Grad Nite events require a substantial amount of planning, coordination and travel, we felt that this was the right decision to make at this time. We know how disappointing this news will be to the many students who were planning to join us this year.

If you are a student or parent who is part of a group that was planning to attend Grad Nite 2020, please consult with your group organizer. We are reaching out to each confirmed group’s contact or travel planner with more information. As we anticipate a heavy volume of inquiries, we appreciate your patience as we work diligently to communicate with everyone.

We look forward to hosting Disneyland Resort Grad Nite next year and for years to come. Information about future events will be shared as soon as it becomes available.

Thank you for your understanding.”

California Governor Gavin Newsome recently stated that the chances of mass gatherings of any kind taking place across the state are “unlikely” through August. Do note that while June 13 was the last party date on the Grad Nite schedule, this is not indicative of a potential reopening date. Disneyland Resort remains closed until further notice, and a reopening date has not yet been identified.
