Disneyland Resort to Utilize New Theme Park Reservation System for Guests and Annual Passholders Upon Reopening

With the proposed reopening dates for Disneyland Resort officially announced, you may be getting ready to grab your Minnie Ears and go, but similar to the new system implemented at Shanghai Disneyland and already announced for Walt Disney World, guests will need to secure a reservation in advance for park entry. Pending state and local government approvals, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park will begin a phased reopening on July 17, 2020. The Disneyland Resort will reopen with some important updates to promote physical distancing, including a new theme park reservation system:

As stated in the new “Know Before You Go” experience updates page on Disneyland’s website:

Because theme park capacity will be significantly limited to comply with governmental requirements and promote physical distancing, we will manage attendance through a new theme park reservation system that will require all Guests, including Annual Passholders, to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance. Theme park reservations will be subject to availability. More details about this new reservation system will be available soon.

It is unknown whether other similar parameters already announced for Walt Disney World will apply at Disneyland, like limits on Annual Passholder reservations and no park hopping between theme parks.

We’ll continue to provide updates on this new reservation system as they are announced.

  1. It will be interesting to see how they handle APs. I personally don’t think they should start a full reboot of the passes if one cannot fully use them. I opted to start my payments up again once the park reopened on my SigPlus pass (I have about 3 months left), but if I’m severely limited in going I would hope they add some extra weeks or months tacked on for no extra charge. To me that would be fair.
