We wants the rum, boys. The Hollywood Reporter has just announced that a new Pirates of the Caribbean film is in the works for Disney, with Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey, Bumblebee, Batgirl) writing and Margot Robbie (Bombshell, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Birds of Prey) as the female lead.

From The Hollywood Reporter:

Hodson has been tapped to write a new, female-fronted Pirates of the Caribbean for Disney, with Robbie attached to star.

While plot details are being kept in Davey Jones’ locker, the project, in early development, is not intended to be a spinoff of the long-running franchise that had pirate Jack Sparrow at its center but rather a wholly original story with new characters under the Pirates moniker, itself inspired by the long-running attraction at Disneyland.

Longtime Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer is attached to produce this new Robbie/Hodson project.

As the plot will draw from the Pirates of the Caribbean attractions at Disneyland Park and at the Magic Kingdom, it’s believed the plot will involve the recent addition of Redd, the character that replaced the redhead in the auction scene after a “reimagining” in 2018.

No release date or further details have been announced, but we’re looking forward to seeing how this next step in the Pirates franchise evolves… and will we get to see the return of the infamous Jack Sparrow? Only time will tell.

  1. Disney has gone fully woke and it’s just sad I hope its just a phase for them because this movie will Bomb just like Birds of Orey ,Bumblebee and especially Batgirl!

  2. I’m good with this. Hey, she is one actress, who’s to say they won’t also pull in Karen Gillan to do Redd and Margot be someone else?
