Disneyland Resort to Lay Off Nearly 2,700 Non-Union Cast Members

Nearly 2,700 non-union cast members are expected to be laid off at the Disneyland Resort as part of the recent wave of layoffs at Disney Parks affecting 28,000 Cast Members.

As part of a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice filed with the State of California notified of the layoffs of 2,691 Cast Members starting December 4th, along with a breakdown of some of the affected departments, according to The Orange County Register‘s Brady MacDonald. The filing says that 2,050 layoffs will be from Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, which includes operations Cast Members, as well as 129 from Disney Entertainment Productions, 95 layoffs at Disney Destinations and 74 from the Walt Disney Travel Company.

This comes just a day after Workers United Local 50 announced that 2,500 union Cast Members in food service would be laid off by November 1st, joining 950 Cast Members from UNITE HERE Local 11 by the same day.
