WonderGround Gallery, a fan-favorite art shop at the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort, has apparently gotten the Star Wars treatment, as the new Star Wars Trading Post has taken over, filling the retail location with once-exclusive merchandise from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

The exterior of the location now sports a rustic look, with worn rags draped over the entrance and a barrel with a sign announcing the new store’s name.

Nearly everything is made out to look like cargo, shipped out from Batuu and over to Downtown Disney. Cast Members inside play along to remain in-story, as if the Trading Post has been a longtime outpost of Star Wars merch.

Inside, cargo grates and barrels are stacked full of Galaxy’s Edge merchandise, including Jedi robes and even plush from the Creature Stall.

Throughout the store, you can virtually find every item sold in the land, from Holocrons, to Dejarik, and Porgs of all sizes.

No need to haggle with Dok-Ondar on this one. Legacy Lightsabers are also on display, and available for viewing within a glass case.

Most Legacy Lightsaber styles are available. We inquired about the new Ahsoka Tano lightsabers, but they have yet to arrive.

Signage acknowledges that the items are in fact “shipments from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.”

With Disneyland Park still shuttered due to the COVID-19 pandemic and no way for guests to access Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, it seems the resort decided to bring Batuu to the people, however many guests will surely miss WonderGround Gallery, especially since it was transformed overnight without prior warning. Cast Members expect this takeover to be here a while, so it’s unknown if and when WonderGround Gallery will return.

What do you think of this new addition to Downtown Disney District?

  1. Seriously this looks sooooooo bad, the theme-ing is second rate (overnight hack job) the hanging tarps, spray painted luggage sets and a old school milk jug? Wonderground is one of the few places where independent artists can show their unique work, versus mass produced tchotchkes – I dont normally get miffed but this is flat out a cash grab…

  2. So I guess all the unique, cool artist interpretations of Disney is going to be replaced by more of the blah touristy stuff. Why couldn’t the do up a corner in World of Disney similar to how Universal displays Harry Potter merchandise in non-wizardly world stores? I wonder if the Merch will be at the outlet soon?
