Robert Downey Jr. Says He’s “All Done” Playing Iron Man in New Interview

If Iron Man ever does return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it won’t be Robert Downey Jr. in the suit.

According to ComicBook.com, the actor said “that’s all done” regarding his obligations playing Tony Stark in an interview on the SmartLess podcast after an eleven-year run. The character famously sacrificed himself to defeat Thanos at the end of Avengers: Endgame.

That being said, there may be one last hurrah coming soon. It’s been rumored that Downey may have a cameo in the upcoming Black Widow, which is set following the events of Captain America: Civil War, long before Stark’s death.

While in comics, death is often not the end for beloved characters, and we may eventually see someone else don the suit, it seems that Marvel Studios will have to move forward without one of its biggest stars.
