When Toy Story 4 made its debut in theaters on June 21, 2019, viewers fell in love with the daring and humorous Canadian stuntman, Duke Caboom, played by Keanu Reeves.
Now, The Walt Disney Company is facing a lawsuit over this character due to its Evel Knievel likeness. According to TMZ, K&K Promotions (the company that owns the copyright and trademarks for Knievel) filed the lawsuit. They are requesting that damages be paid out over this infringement.
The lawsuit claims that Duke Caboom’s attire clearly matches that of Knievel. They also note that there was never any mention of Knievel in interviews surrounding the film, for many believe that Caboom’s character was created as a parody of Evel Knievel.
While it is unclear how successful this new lawsuit will be, it is clear that both Caboom and Knievel will continue to bring laughter and daring adventures to their fans across the globe.
