VIDEO: New Commercial Puts Pressure on Governor Newsom to Reopen Disneyland Resort

Though Disneyland Resort in California has been preparing to reopen, there is still no opening date. Disneyland President Ken Potrock recently commented on how the parks were “in limbo” waiting for guidelines from Newsom. Now Newsom is being called upon to reopen Disneyland in a new commercial by the Reopen O.C. Now coalition of Anaheim, Buena Park, and Garden Grove city leaders and the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce.

“Tell Governor Newsom to help Anaheim get back to work,” the commercial states. “Let’s reopen theme parks and reawaken our region.”

Reopen O.C. Now also said in a statement, “The State of California has issued health care guidelines to allow for the reopening of virtually every aspect of life and business, except theme parks. This lack of guidance means these economic engines, responsible for close to 100,000 jobs in Southern California, can’t finalize plans for reopening.”

Governor Newsom recently said an announcement about theme parks reopening would be coming “soon.”

The “Reopen Theme Parks” ad will be seen by web users in Southern California. The ad refers to Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood, Knott’s, Six Flags Magic Mountain, SeaWorld San Diego, Legoland California, and more.

Disneyland has most recently canceled reservations through October 10.

  1. LOL for years the city of Anaheim has been crapping on Disney acting like they don’t need them. Maybe they should have let them build that parking garage and 3rd hotel after all.

DIsney holds all the chips now, they should absolutely leverage it to their advantage even if they do get the green light.

  2. I get why the governor wants to slow down reopening but he also needs to think of the economic impact. Disneyland is a cash cow for California. We are 6 months into this pandemic. People understand the risks and know how to mitigate them.

Why not require a negative Covid test before allowing entry? that would lower the chances of an outbreak and increase testing overall which is what the governor wants.

    • I do not see why the governor wants to slow reopening. Requiring a negative Covid test would crush Disneyland. Open up Disneyland now.
