During today’s COVID-19 update, Governor Gavin Newsom stated that the California Health and Human Services Secretary, Dr. Mark Ghaly, will supposedly be giving an update on theme park reopenings tomorrow.
That’s why we’re being very stubborn about some industries in the state that I know are eager to get guidelines. Tomorrow, Dr. Ghaly will update you on some of those industries and guidelines, including sports and some of these theme parks. We’re going to break up the theme parks—it’s not just one or two brands, it’s many different parts that are part of the theme park industry. But Dr. Ghaly will be updating you tomorrow on those guidelines. Again, I hope one recognizes our stubbornness on a health-first, data-driven decision-making process…
Theme parks will be “broken up into parts” to represent all brands and sizes of theme parks in the industry. During last week’s update, Dr. Ghaly reiterated that Orange County, which includes Anaheim and the Disneyland Resort, was still under a Red “Substantial” tier code. Earlier today, the Coalition of Resort Labor Unions has reached out directly to Governor Gavin Newsom regarding the reopening of Disneyland Resort, stating they supported reopening under the “Orange” or moderate tier.
