The film will combine live-action with CGI and is set to begin filming next spring. There are rumors that the original voice cast are set to return, but this has not been confirmed. Tress MacNeille originally voiced Chip and Gadget, while Corey Burton voiced Dale and Zipper. Seasoned Disney voice actor Jim Cummings voiced Monterey Jack.

Akiva Schaffer, a member of Lonely Island, is set to direct the live-action film. David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman (The Muppets and live-action Beauty and the Beast) are producing. Dan Gregor and Doug Mand (How I Met Your Mother) wrote the script. There are no details known about the plot, but it’s being described as “meta” and is not an origin story nor detective agency story.

The Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers TV show was created by Tad Stones and Alan Zaslove. It originally aired from March 1989 to September 1990. Reruns continued to air for several years after and the entire series is now available on Disney+. Rescue Rangers merchandise can even sometimes be found in the Disney Parks.

  1. ok…. please listen. NOT EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE LIVE ACTION!
My kids love Rescue Rangers. Why not just do a really slick animated film, maybe even stylized CGI if hand drawn is not appealing? Or revive the series like Ducktales 2017, which is AMAZING! This just doesn’t feel like something that needs to be live action. Kinda like Lilo and Stitch, this doesn’t need to be “live”.
