California Governor Gavin Newsom Issues 10:00 PM Curfew for Purple Tier, Including Orange County

Today, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced a new 10pm to 5am curfew. The curfew will be in place for all California counties in the Purple Tier. Currently over 70% of California Counties are in the Purple Tier, including Orange County, where the Disneyland Resort is located.

The new curfew goes into effect at 10pm ET on Saturday. It is intended to reduce opportunities for Californians to be exposed to the coronavirus by banning all non-essential work as well as non-essential gatherings and movements between the hours of 10pm and 5am. According to the order, members of the same household are allowed to leave their homes after 10pm, however, they are not allowed to interact with anyone from outside their household. The order does not outline specifically how it will be enforced by local authorities.

As the Downtown Disney District as well as Buena Vista Street both currently close at 10pm, we may see operating hours reduce in order to give guests the opportunity to get home before curfew.
