Deadline‘s Anthony D’Alessandro reports that Dan Silver has departed Disney to become Netflix’s Director of Documentary Feature Films. The move comes after the teams responsible for Disney+ Unscripted Content and Production have been moved to Disney’s General Entertainment division run by Peter Rice. Both teams will now report to Gary Marsh, President and Chief Creative Officer of Disney Branded Television.

While with Disney+, Silver led development of such unscripted and docu-series as The Imagineering Story, Muppets Now, Marvel’s 616, Encore, and Howard, the documentary feature focused on songwriter and Disney Legend Howard Ashman. Silver also oversaw On Pointe, premiering December 18th, which takes a look at students of the School of American Ballet in New York City and “The Nutcracker” performance at Lincoln Center.

Silver’s other work with Disney includes heading Marvel Entertainment’s platforms and content-new media, in addition to nonfiction work which include Marvel Live! Eat the Universe and podcast Wolverine: The Long Night. His work took him across various divisions of The Walt Disney Company, including an executive producer at ABC News Digital and on the film Queen of Katwe, as well as Senior Director of Development for ESPN Films.
