While guests at Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resort won’t be able to enjoy the majesty of the Candlelight Processional this year, Disney is trying to keep the holiday magic going.
They’ve released a video of a performance from last year’s EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, led by celebrity narrator Neil Patrick Harris. The video also comes with a new introduction by the Walt Disney Archives’ Becky Cline, who discusses the history of the event, complete with rare images from throughout the decades, and a closing message from Harris, expressing hope that he’ll be able to host again next year. The highly popular event, which tells the story of the Nativity, accompanied by a full orchestra and a choir of Cast Members, was cancelled at both EPCOT and Disneyland back in September as Disney modified their holiday offerings to help keep guests safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. In lieu of the annual performance, EPCOT staples including Mariachi Cobre and the Voices of Liberty entertain guests at the America Gardens Theatre this year.
