Walt Disney World
Magic Kingdom

- With the 50th anniversary of Magic Kingdom less than a year away, plenty of the park’s original attractions have been receiving refurbishments and a new permit filed for the Swiss Family Treehouse suggests it’s next on the list
- Walt Disney World has filed a third permit for construction at Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom, with the previous two permits being for “general construction” and this new one for labor and materials
- Hello from a slightly chilly, but overall beautiful day here at the Magic Kingdom where we came, ready to rock, and find all the new things in the park to bring you our latest photo report
Disney’s Animal Kingdom

- Multiple attractions, including “Festival of the Lion King” and “Finding Nemo – The Musical,” have been removed from the new Disney’s Animal Kingdom guide map now available at Walt Disney World
- Avatar Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom initially opened with strict social distancing measures, and while many of those are still in place throughout the queue, riders are now being seated at every link chair, or ride vehicle, versus leaving a seat in between parties
Disney Springs
- Fit2Run, which had a location in Disney Springs for several years before closing in November 2019, has reopened in a new spot
- Even in the midst of a pandemic, some traditions have remained… including plenty of guests around Walt Disney World during the holiday week as our reporters have noticed heavy crowds at Disney Springs, causing some delays in entering the shopping and dining complex
Other Walt Disney World News

- A Walt Disney World Cast Member has been charged with two misdemeanors after stealing almost $34,000 from the company over a two-year period
- Starting Jan 1, 2021, souvenir luggage tags will no longer be mailed ahead of time to a guest’s residence, but rather will be available for pick up at the front desk anytime during their stay at their Walt Disney World Resort hotel, along with the other Walt Disney Travel Company Magical Extras
- All four Walt Disney World theme parks are fully booked for Annual Passholders on New Year’s Eve, according to the Disney Park Pass availability calendar
- Select holiday merchandise is now even more discounted at Walt Disney World as the previous holiday item sale offered 30% off, and now it has been bumped up to 70% off
Disneyland Resort

- California has formally extended the stay-at-home order in place for Southern California after it was automatically renewed yesterday
Tokyo Disney Resort
- Last week, Tokyo Disney Resort greatly expanded its Standby Pass virtual queue system to include most popular attractions at both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, but was rather vague on whether a Standby Pass was required for the whole day or only at certain times and now, we have an answer thanks to the Tokyo Disney Resort App
New Merchandise
- Walt Disney World has four new limited edition pins celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Emperor’s New Groove, which was released on December 15, 2000
- A Disney Parks Signature Puzzle celebrating the 20th anniversary of Disney California Adventure has arrived at Walt Disney World
- For Disney Parks Wishables collectors, 2021 is starting off with a bang because two new sets of Wishables are launching on Wednesday, January 6th, featuring iconic characters and vehicles from the Disney parks
Entertainment and Media

- Marvel shared a Stan Lee tribute video today on what would have been Lee’s 98th birthday
- With a tweet that let the rat out of the hat, the cast of “Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical” has been announced and it includes some familiar names, most notably Wayne Brady and Adam Lambert, in the 22-member cast
