More Information About Refunds of Disneyland Annual Passes, Premier Passport Retired

With the cancellation of Disneyland Resort’s Annual Passholder program, many are left wondering how this affects their Premier Passport, which gives them access to both Disneyland and Walt Disney World theme parks. Unfortunately, it looks like the Premier Passport is being retired forever.

The Disneyland website provides the following information:

If the total amount paid toward a Premier Passport exceeds the “usable value”, the excess amount will be refunded. The usable value equals the total sales price of the Premier Passport divided by the total number of access days to any theme park permitted under the Premier Passport and multiplied by the number of days that the Premier Passport could have been used prior to March 14, 2020 (the day Disneyland Resort theme parks closed).

The Premier Passports will remain active through March 31, 2021, for guests accessing Walt Disney World theme parks and perks, but will be canceled immediately after.

Below is more information about Annual Passholder refunds.

Disneyland Resort Annual Passports that were valid as of March 14, 2020 may be eligible for a pro rata refund due to the sunsetting of the current Disneyland Resort Annual Passport program. The pro rata refund amount for each such Passport, if any, is unique to the Passport and is based on factors such as: how much has already been paid toward the Passport, any refunds already provided, and when the Passport was activated. Applicable pro rata refunds for any additional features attached to the Passport—such as parking—will be included in the Passport pro rata refund amount.

Pro Rata Refund Eligibility and Calculation for Valid, Activated Passports

If the total amount paid toward a Passport (minus any refunds already given) exceeds the “usable value” of the Passport, that excess amount will be refunded for that Passport. The “usable value” of the Passport equals the total sales price of the Passport divided by the total number of access days to any theme park permitted under the Passport at activation and multiplied by the number of days that the Passport could have been used to visit any park per the terms of the Passport prior to March 14, 2020.

Pro rata refund amount = Total amount paid toward a Passport (minus any refunds given) – Usable value of Passport
Usable value of Passport = (Total sales price ÷ Total number of access days at activation) × Number of access days available prior to March 14, 2020

Pro Rata Refund Eligibility and Calculation for Passports That Were Renewed During the Theme Park Closure Period

Passports Paid in Full at Time of Purchase
If a Passport was renewed during the theme park closure period and the renewal price was paid in full, the total sales price paid for the renewed Passport will be refunded for such renewed Passport.

Additionally, for the previous Passport that expired during the theme park closure period, if the total amount paid for such Passport (minus any refunds already given) exceeds the “usable value” of the expired Passport, that excess amount will be refunded for that expired Passport. The “usable value” of the expired Passport equals the total sales price of the expired Passport or the renewed Passport (whichever is greater) divided by the total number of access days to any theme park permitted under the expired Passport at activation and multiplied by the number of days that the expired Passport could have been used to visit any park per the terms of the expired Passport prior to March 14, 2020.

Pro rata refund amount = Total amount paid for renewed Passport + (Total amount paid toward the expired Passport (minus any refunds given) – Usable value of expired Passport)
Usable value of expired Passport = (Total sales price of expired Passport or renewed Passport, whichever is greater ÷ Total number of access days of expired Passport at activation) × Number of access days of expired Passport available prior to March 14, 2020

Passports Purchased Under the Monthly Payment Program
If a Passport was renewed during the theme park closure period under the monthly payment program, the monthly payment contract for the renewed Passport will be cancelled and no monies will be owed under such contract.

Pro rata refund amount = Total amount paid toward expired Passport (minus any refunds given) – Usable value of expired Passport
Usable value of expired Passport = (Total sales price of expired Passport or renewed Passport, whichever is greater ÷ Total number of access days of expired Passport at activation) × Number of access days of expired Passport available prior to March 14, 2020
