We got to take a look inside the new Star Wars Trading Post now open for Legacy Passholder previews in the Downtown Disney District. We have been watching the transformation of the old Rainforest Cafe building very closely since the announcement was made that it would become an intergalactic merchandise location.
The facade of the building has seen the addition of Star Wars themed netting, plants and wires over the last month, to cover the fact that the building used to be a Rainforest Cafe.
The new sign for the merchandise location is no longer covered by a sheet and is painted to look rusty and old. There are many wires connected to upper left portion of the sign.
The check in for the Legacy Passholder preview is near the ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney.
They have set up a queue area around the back of the ESPN Zone building where guests can wait after they have checked in. Our check in time was 5:30, and once checked in we waited in line for over 30 minutes before then entering the ESPN Zone building.
Inside the building were a few displays with Baby Yoda merchandise.
Inside you are able to purchase the Silver Batuuan Spira. The Batuuan Spira is a Disney Gift Card that can be loaded with a minimum of $100, with a $4.99 activation fee.
After the ESPN Zone, we were led to the next section of the line for the preview, in front of the Trading Post.
The line winds around the planters on the left of the building.
The sign for the Star Wars Trading Post is well lit at night, and shines brightly on the facade.
There are physical distancing markers on the ground to help guests stay distanced while in line.
There are extra registers set up outside.
During our Passholder preview today, we finally got to look at the inside of the store and the merchandise it currently offers. The Star Wars Trading Post will not follow Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge timeline rules, which allows for more varied merchandise to be sold at the location.
At the entrance, there is a station where you can take a number if you intend to purchase a Legacy Lightsaber. Upon pulling a number, you then wait in the store for your number to be called.
The netting draped on the outside of the building also made its way inside, and is hanging from the ceiling. There are also many wires hanging among the netting.
The store has an open floor plan at the entrance, allowing plenty of room for guests.
The check stands have plexiglass dividers, and are numbered. Let’s take a look at all of the merchandise the store has to offer.
You’ll notice a large amount of the merchandise is from Galaxy’s Edge, but there’s some other collections as well.
A wide array of The Mandalorian product has worked its way in.
Legacy Lightsabers are on display under glass. Looks a little cramped.
This display works a little better.
Designers did their best with what they were given to dress the space and help you forget it was a Rainforest Cafe. It still very much looks like one though.
There is an entire section of the store focused on Star Wars plush. You may recognize this as where Tracey Tree used to live.
This Porg sits on a bundle of wire in the notch of a tree. This hole is located where Tracey Tree’s face was…
In some places, merchandise is used as decor.
There are many Star Wars themed props inside the store, including screens, canisters, and even nods to The Mandalorian. You can find the carrier Grogu sits in on a few totes on the right side of the store.
There is a lot of merchandise usually available at the Droid Depot in Galaxy’s Edge now available at the Trading Post.
Walls block off shuttered sections of the restaurant.
The Batuuan Spira is also available in the store itself, strangely at a set $104.99 price tag.
The Black Spire Outpost merchandise from Jewels of Bith is available as well.
We were delighted to find some new Star Wars merchandise available at the Trading Post.
Paddy Frog Sipper – $23.99
The Paddy Frog Sipper first released at Walt Disney World has now landed in Anaheim.
There is a purchase limit of ten on the paddy sippers.
If you’re a Legacy Passholder, you can make reservations for the special preview event at the Star Wars Trading post from February 16th throughout the 18th. The merchandise location will open to the public beginning February 19th, this Friday.

I think I paid 15.99 for the sipper, with a drink in it.
