Walt Disney World
Magic Kingdom
- While the Cinderella Castle stage remains covered in scrim at Magic Kingdom, the moat surrounding the castle is now being drained
- Since we last checked in, the exterior covered queue of Pirates of the Caribbean at Magic Kingdom is now full of Plexiglass dividers
- Tomorrow on Good Morning America, Disney will reveal their plans for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary, which will include decor on Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom for the festivities
- The less-than-ideal weather at Magic Kingdom didn’t seem to deter the last of the holiday weekend crowds, as wait times and line lengths soared, but we still enjoyed finding all the new things at this lovely park to bring you in this photo report
EPCOT
- We continue to monitor the demolition of Innoventions West at EPCOT and today, while checking out the progress, we noticed even more dismantling has taken place as the last of the themed support was finally taken down
- During a trip to EPCOT, we noticed the waterways between The Land and The Seas pavilions had been drained and given the timeline for the demolition of Innoventions West, we assume the draining was to make way for Moana – Journey of Water
- Epcot has extended its operating hours for Saturday, February 20, now opening at 11:00 a.m. and closing at 11:00 p.m.
- We noticed quite a bit of work being done on the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction this morning, so we decided to stop back this afternoon for a better look
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Disney has filed several construction permits for theaters at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, likely for general refurbishment to the theaters and show elements, but they may indicate a return to use
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- On weekdays from February 22 through March 19, 2021, Passholders can head to DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park to find a variety of Passholder-exclusive offerings including a magnet, discounts, exclusive food & drinks, and more
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
- Last August, we reported on a lawsuit between Validus Construction Services and Disney amidst the refurbishment of Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, and since that time, seven subcontractors have filed suits against Validus and Disney has filed a countersuit
- We found some royally delicious Princess Strawberry Cream Puffs today at the Grand Floridian, a new dessert consisting of three small cream puffs with a sweet strawberry filling
- We’ve been closely monitoring the progress on the building of the new entrance to the Great Ceremonial House and Monorail station construction at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and we checked in today to see what’s new
Other Walt Disney World News
- While leaving Walt Disney World yesterday, we noticed that repainting work has begun on the exit sign on World Drive
- The Disney Parks Twitter has announced that there will be a glimpse at the 50th Anniversary celebrationof Walt Disney World on Good Morning America tomorrow morning
- Ahead of the full reveal tomorrow on Good Morning America, Disney has teased the new costumes for Mickey Mouse and his friends in honor of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary
- With the full preview coming tomorrow on Good Morning America, Walt Disney World has released a teaser for the nighttime looks that the other park icons will display during the 50th anniversary festivities
Disneyland Resort
- It has been a couple of months since our last look at the construction of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at the Disneyland Resort and recently, we were able to get a peek at the latest construction progress
- In a new video, Disneyland Imagineers discuss working on refurbishing Snow White’s Scary Adventures and turning it into Snow White’s Enchanted Wish
- There are now snickerdoodle glazed beignets available at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen Express in Downtown Disney District
- While we wait for Disney California Adventure to finally reopen, we are getting glimpses of the upcoming MARVEL Avengers Campus from Buena Vista Street and there are now “open house” banners outside WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure
New Merchandise
- Beginning February 22, a new Dooney & Bourke Disney Skyliner handbag collection will be available at Walt Disney World Resort
- Today, we spotted a new Tower of Terror trinket tray at Walt Disney World, part of a set of trinket trays across Walt Disney World representing each park’s icon
- A new mystery pin bag is available at Disneyland Resort – these “fanntasy packs” have five of sixteen possible fanny pack pin designs
Entertainment and Media
- Today Pixar released Up Remix, a short video that follows the story of Up in an anime style
Disney+
- During a virtual press event, Disney executives were asked about the possible addition to one of the most popular series from the 1980s, “The Golden Girls” and while there is no specific date set, it was confirmed that the beloved sitcom will be coming to the streaming service this summer
WDW News Today
- In the first season of WDWNT: The RPG, the Adventurers saved many attractions from destruction, made some enemies, and many ridiculous new friends, and recently reunited to reminisce about the best moments of the first season in a recap video available on our YouTube page
- On this special one-shot episode of WDWNT: The RPG, Winnie The Pooh’s entire supply of honey has been stolen by Br’er Bear, and is being held at the very top of Splash Mountain, so together with the help of Teddi Barra, Humphrey, Henry and Duffy, our cast of players split and tried to pull off the biggest Hunny Heist the Magic Kingdom has ever seen
