UPDATE: Disneyland Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood Presidents Excited to Announce Reopening Dates Soon

Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock stated that he “can’t wait” to announce the reopening date for the Disneyland Resort.

California’s adjusted Blueprint for a Safer Economy will allow theme parks to reopen when their host county reaches the red tier. Orange County and Los Angeles counties are currently in the more severe purple tiers, but are expected to drop down to the red tier as soon as March 29. COVID-19 numbers are expected to reach the new threshold as soon as this Tuesday. They must remain in that tier for three consecutive weeks before the theme parks will be allowed to reopen.

Karen Irwin, Universal Studios Hollywood President and COO, told Deadline,

“This is very exciting news…We deeply appreciate the partnership with State and Local Health and Government officials, and are thrilled to have finally arrived at this milestone announcement. The health and safety of our guests and team members remain our top priority, and we’re committed to ensuring full compliance with our newly established protocols as we continue to create an exceptional entertainment experience for everyone. We are ready to reopen, ready to bring our team members back to work, ready to help stimulate the local economy and ready to welcome guests.”

Both Disneyland Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood have plans to open for special ticketed dining events, but this news could mean a full park reopening at a limited capacity in the very near future. Disneyland and Universal Studios have been closed since March of 2020.

  1. Do you think this will change the Touch of Disney events? Especially for people from out of town.

  2. Disneyland had been closed for along time and my goal this year is give so many hugs to all the Disney cast members that made my day

  3. The Recall Newsome initiative has received an incredible amount of support and progress, it no doubt forced ol’ slick to reconsider what he was doing to CA residents and businesses.
