Violent Content Warning Added to “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” Description on Disney+

In November, we reported that content warnings had been added to movies and shows with outdated cultural depictions across the Disney+ library. More recently, The Aristocats, Peter Pan, Dumbo, and Swiss Family Robinson were removed from children’s profiles on the streaming platform due to negative cultural depictions. Now, a different take on content warnings brings one referencing the violent nature of the newest Disney+ series, Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier premiered on Disney+ last Friday, March 19th. The new series debuted as the most-watched series premiere ever on Disney+, confirmed by Marvel. However, viewers may now notice an additional — but quite subtle — content warning that has been added to the show’s description.

Though it is fictional and set in the comic-book world, the series contains violent scenes that may be viewed as triggering or unsettling to some viewers, particularly in light of recent real-world tragic events.

Though this is the first content warning of its kind for the streaming platform, it’s possible that other programming will display the same added descriptor in the future.

New episodes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are released every Friday on Disney+.

  1. No sensible person would have an issue with this or describe it as cancel culture. Emphasis on the word “sensible.”
