Magic Kingdom

• As part of Cinderella Castle’s “earidescent” transformation for the 50th Anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort this fall, an additional piece of bunting that looks like beautifully draped fabric was added and it can even be spotted from the front of the castle
• Facial recognition technology was tested this morning at the entrance to Magic Kingdom as Walt Disney World shifts to utilizing more touchless technology — and the newest addition could be touchless entry to the theme parks through facial recognition
• Following our announcement this morning that new facial recognition technology was being tested for park entry at the Magic Kingdom, the facial recognition test is active once again and we got to check it out for ourselves
• In our photo report, we found a new piece of 50th Anniversary décor on Cinderella Castle, a new “Sidekick” Dooney & Bourke MagicBand and bag collection, Bonjour! Village Gifts had reopened, and more

EPCOT

• EPCOT’s new nighttime spectacular, Harmonious, is expected to debut sometime this year and today, a third barge moved into its new home on World Showcase Lagoon alongside the others, leaving just one more before the “compass” is all in place
• On the heels of the third screen barge making its way onto the World Showcase Lagoon, we watched as the centerpiece ring for Harmonious received some testing for its colorful lighting

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

• The storefront of Legends of Hollywood recently received new Pandora Jewelry posters and the Majestic Theater received a new clock as part of a small reimagining
• A few days ago we reviewed the Plant-Based Zuchii Wrap at Ronto Roasters, and today we found that another vegan breakfast option has arrived on Batuu
• A new lighting package brings Disney-MGM Studios magic back to the Chinese Theater

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

• In celebration of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, we have found a brand new, vintage-style popcorn bucket in DinoLand U.S.A. featuring iconic Disney Characters on classic Disney attractions

Walt Disney World Resort Hotels

• Easter celebrations appear to be in full swing at the Walt Disney World Resort and we’re giving the new Easter Cake at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa a taste

Other Walt Disney World News

• The heavily anticipated Brightline high-speed rail that would connect the Orlando International Airport to Walt Disney World is now scheduled to start service as early as mid-2026
• “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” begins on Oct. 1, 2021 — and Florida car owners can get ready to celebrate with us by purchasing the first-ever Walt Disney World Resort specialty license plate

Disneyland Resort

• A new sundae has made its debut at the Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop during “A Touch of Disney” in Disney California Adventure and it may be the perfect treat for caramel fans

Tokyo Disney Resort

• After nearly a year of delays, Tokyo Disneyland will finally hold The Happy Fair with Baymax event starting April 5th

Disneyland Paris

• Disneyland Paris guests staying at Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel, will soon have many more options to make their stay truly epic, as indicated by the updates to the Disneyland Paris App, which says that guests will be able to open hotel doors using just their phones and can book an “epic moment” with their favorite superheroes at the Super Hero Station
• A notice was sent to Disneyland Paris Cast Members stating that beginning March 25, those 55 and over, or with a pre-existing condition, will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccination, and the vaccine will roll out to additional Cast Members depending on the number of vaccines available, and as directed by French authorities

New Merchandise

• This morning we “spotted” (pun fully intended) some new “One Hundred and One Dalmatians” outfits adorning the mannequins at Uptown Jewelers in Magic Kingdom
• Via Instagram, (@that.disney.teacher) shared photos of the upcoming Wishables Collection to be released in April for Wishables Wednesday will feature characters from Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT at Disney California Adventure

Entertainment and Media

• Marvel Studios just announced that the highly anticipated Black Widow film will now premiere in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access on July 9th

Disney+

• Disney has revealed that Cruella will now premiere on Disney+ Premier Access at the same time it opens in theaters on May 28th and Pixar’s Luca will be launching exclusively on Disney+, for no extra fee, on June 18th

The Walt Disney Company

• Disney Legend Jim Cora, who helped found Tokyo Disneyland, DisneySea, and Disneyland Paris, passed away at age 83 on Sunday, March 21st a following a brief hospitalization
